The Ed discusses more possible Torquay signings
HARRY BURGOYNE
Harry Burgoyne started out as a youth team goalkeeper at Wolverhampton Wanderers, signing on as a professional in 2015 and spending the next 5 years at Molineux, during which time Harry was called up to train with the England U21s. He spent loan spells at a number of clubs including Plymouth and Falkirk, before eventually leaving to join Shrewsbury Town in 2020. Since then Burgoyne has not been able to hold down a first team shirt, and made no League appearances last season. The tall keeper is contracted to Shrewsbury for another year, but at 25 years of age, a chance to join the Gulls on loan and play regularly for Gary Johnson could appeal.

DANIEL JARVIS
Dan Jarvis started his career at Stoke City, before landing in Wrexham during January 2020. The versatile midfielder has struggled to pin down a regular place in the first team line-up since then, appearing mainly from the subs bench at the start of last season, before an ankle injury kept him on the side-line for months. The Dragons offered Jarvis a new contract this summer, but he turned it down, stating – “I have just got to go somewhere and play football – go and enjoy my football again”. Could that somewhere be Plainmoor? Well with midfield spots to fill and budget available from Little and CLE leaving, perhaps Gary Johnson will tempt him down to Devon.

JORDAN PONTICELLI
Ponticelli is a striker who started out at Coventry City, making appearances for them in League One and Two between 2017-19. He was also loaned out to Macclesfield, Tranmere and then Wrexham. The move to Wrexham was made permanent in the summer of 2020, but Jordan’s next season was disrupted by injuries and then with the club signing the likes of Mullin and Palmer, Jordan fell down the pecking order. He has now been released this summer. JP – “I don’t like excuses – I just work hard and see what I can get out of it – so I’m not going to use any of them about my time at Wrexham. It is football, I have just got to work through it and see what that gets me”. Perhaps he’s someone who Gary Johnson could get the best out of at Plainmoor.
