OPPOSITION Q&A

Cameron Weldon discusses his team Truro City
MY ROLE AT TRURO
I’m the Head of Media at Truro City, and have been for 3 years now. Just starting my 4th season with the club. I’m a Sports Journalist who has grown up supporting Truro and lived in the West Country my entire life across Somerset, Devon and Cornwall.
PRE-SEASON SO FAR
Yeah it’s been good overall. Had a disappointing result on Tuesday against Willand but as a whole pre-season has gone well. Plenty of minutes for the boys and some tough tests. The lads have worked really hard and are looking sharp ahead of another long season, which will hopefully be a positive one for us.
EXPECTATIONS FOR 22-23
It’s not a secret that for us this season Southern League promotion is the objective. We’ve come very close in previous seasons and despite a difficult campaign last season I’m confident we will be challenging at the top end of the table this year.
KEY PLAYERS
Tyler Harvey and Rocky Neal are the main goal threats. Both scored 20+ goals last season and are always a threat in the opposing box. James Hamon, who needs no introduction to Torquay fans is a superb keeper and someone who will be crucial to any potential success this season. Connor Riley-Lowe is also a key player for us. Not only a good defender but a great leader in the squad.
THE MANAGER
Paul Wotton is our manager, a well known figure in these parts with his playing and coaching career at Argyle. I’m not revealing how we normally set up, you will see that on Saturday.
THE GROUND SITUATION
We are currently ground sharing at Bolitho Park in Plymouth, home of Plymouth Parkway. We’ve been there since the start of last season following our departure from Treyew Road. No update on a return to Truro as of yet but it’s something everyone involved in the club wants. To get back to our own City in our own ground.
