MANAGER – TOM CLEVERLEY
Tom Cleverley was appointed as Plymouth Argyle manager during the summer of 2025, following the departure of Miron Muslic to Schalke. Former Manchester United, Everton and England midfielder Cleverley had previously been in charge of Watford, the club where he finished his playing career, after a successful spell as interim manager following the departure of Valerian Ismael. In his first season at Home Park, Cleverley oversaw a campaign that saw the Pilgrims narrowly miss out on a play-off spot.
At international level, Cleverley was capped 13 times by England at Under-21 level and also won 13 senior caps. He also appeared for theTeam GB in the London 2012 Olympics.
PLAYER TO WATCH – BIM PEPPLE
Born in England, Bim Pepple’s family moved to Canada when he was young, and hence Bim grew up in the youth system of Calgary Foothills FC. He also played in the Canadian Premier League with Calgary-based side Cavalry FC, before he headed to Europe. After a year in the under-19 team at Getafe in Spain, Pepple returned to Cavalry for a brief spell. His goalscoring exploits – six goals in seven – attracted the attention of Luton Town, who were in the Sky Bet Championship at the time. Whilst with the Hatters, Pepple had loans with Grimsby Town, Bromley and Inverness Caledonian Thistle. Then, at the start of 2024-25, he moved to Southend United on loan, in the Vanarama National League, and hit serious form as he scored 11 goals in 23 games.
Pepple was recalled by Luton, and sent to Chesterfield, in League Two. With the Spireites, he again impressed, scoring five goals from 15 starts and six substitute appearances, prior to his arrival at Home Park. In March 2026, Pepple received his first call-up for the Canadian national side and narrowly missed out on a place in Jesse Marsch’s squad for this summer’s World Cup.

LAST MEETING
Last meeting: Tuesday 24th July 2025, Torquay United 0 Plymouth Argyle 6
Torquay United were unable to hold back a second-half tidal wave from Plymouth Argyle, as the League One visitors powered to a 6-0 pre-season victory at Plainmoor. Xavier Amaechi had opened scoring with a tidy finish on the half-hour but three goals inside 20 second-half minutes ultimately killed the game as a contest. Amaechi notched another beauty and there were further strikes from Bim Pepple and Joe Edwards. Argyle inflicted further damage through Bali Mumba and Edwards.
