NEW GULL PROFILE

Sam talks about the newest Gull
He’s here. And he is beautiful. If Jake Wannell was the worst kept secret, the signing of Deon Moore is the best. It had seemed that the Yellow Army’s new hero was destined for pastures new after there was no sign of a new deal for the striker. But, after England’s epic come back victory against DR Congo, the club announced that football wasn’t the only thing coming home…
CAREER SUMMARY
Deon was born in Croydon in 1999, and joined the Carshalton Athletic Academy in 2011, then joined the Peterborough United Academy at the age of 16. He made his Posh debut at the age of 17 in an EFL Trophy match against Norwich U23, replacing Shaq Coulthirst (rememeber him?). He never cut it at Peterborough, leaving in early 2018 to join Mertsham in the Isthmian League. However, only a few months later he would move west to join Bristol Rovers. He didn’t see much game time at the Memorial Ground, so loan spells at Bath and Billericay quickly followed. He left Rovers in in early 2020 and was quickly snapped up by Hemel Hempstead. His spell there didn’t last long, and he joined Dulwich Hamlet in 2021.
While at Champion Hill, he went on loan to Lewes, Carshalton Athletic and Chelmsford City before moving down to Lewes in 2022. This is where Deon had his longest stint, playing 51 games for The Rooks, scoring 12 goals in the process. After leaving Lewes in 2024, he had spells at Sutton, Woking, back at Dulwich and Welling. Before moving to Maidstone in 2025. In his one season at The Gallagher stadium, he scored 7 goals in 36 games before making the move down to The Bay.
In 2023, Deon was called up to the Guyana squad for the first time. He made his debut against Grenada in a Gold Cup qualifying match and scored his first goal against Puerto Rico in October of that year.
HIGHLIGHTS
We all remember the goals, but lets see them again. Here he is opening the scoring against Dorking in the Play-Off Semi-Final:
Here is his fantastic second goal in the Play-Off Final at Hornchurch:
TALKING ABOUT DEON
Jimmy Ball on Deon signing for United – “Deon made a massive impact for us last season. He gave us power, presence, goals and big moments in big games. We wanted him back, the fans wanted him back, and I’m delighted we’ve got it done.”

MOST LIKELY/LEAST LIKELY
Most Likely To
- Score. Deon Moore scores goals. 8 Goals in 10 games, including 4 in the 2 play off games. Hopefully he can hit the ground running, rather than needing some time to settle in.
- Continue to be a fan favourite. Even before he was scoring goals, the Yellow Army loved his work rate and movement. If he keeps that up, then his name could become etched in folklore.
Least Likely To
- Leave us wanting Moore…Deon’s work ethic seemed second to none. Even if things don’t go his way, he will run himself into the ground.
CONCLUSION
Well. No one saw this coming. Deon Moore is officially a Yellow. The club left us all in the dark about the future of the Guyanese striker, but lo and behold he is now a Gull. The squad is shaping up very nicely, with quality and depth in every position. There are still question marks over the future of Young and Dreyer, but I have faith in Jimmy and the Bryn Consortium to replace them if need be. Now, lets bring on the season!
