OPPOSITION Q&A – Buckland Athletic by Amy Alford

OPPOSITION Q&A

Amy discusses the team from Homers Heath

THE VISIT OF TORQUAY UNITED

Everybody at the club is really looking forward to Friday’s fixture. We’re hoping to have a large crowd at Homers Heath to kick the pre-season campaign off in style for both clubs. It’s a privilege for us to have a professional outfit come to visit us, especially when you hear Gary Johnson commenting on our facilities and how we like to look after our visitors.

THE BUCKLAND SQUAD FOR 22-23

The squad is shaping up healthily. Dan Hart (Head Coach) and his management team have had exceptional turn-outs at our training sessions leading up to Friday, so it will be a great opportunity for many of them to prove their point in order to have a place in his squad for the season ahead. We’re very fortunate in that our squad is relatively unchanged – with only the additions that Dan has brought in. Harry Hodges (son of Kevin) is probably one to look out for but we’re confident that all of the players will be wanting to display their best in front of tough opposition and a big attendance.

THE MANAGER TEAM

Our management team is made up of a Head Coach, Dan Hart, two assistant Head Coaches, Nick Milton Snr and Craig Hutcheson and then a Player/Coach, Todd Hanrahan. The management team was formed towards the tail end of last season but Friday will be their first official game in charge. Dan was appointed as Head Coach after managing Launceston AFC for a number of years and he brought his assistant, Todd Hanrahan with him during the summer break. Nick Milton Snr and Craig Hutcheson are familiar faces already at Buckland and complete Dan’s management team.

FRIDAY AND BEYOND

Kick-off is at 7:30pm. The turnstiles will be open from 6pm for spectators to arrive at Homers Heath. Our Homers Bar and Kitchen will be open from 6pm, serving both hot/cold food and drink. We will also be having an outdoor bar and BBQ for the evening. All of our services allow both cash and card payments. Spectators will not be able to park on-site at Homers Heath, however, on the evening there will be stewards at the entrance of the ground to assist with parking.

Our next fixture is Saturday 16th July – our second pre-season friendly versus Southern League Div 1 side, Willand Rovers; also at Homers Heath with a 3pm kick off. Following that on Tuesday 19th July we are back at the Heath again, fielding against newly-promoted side, Plymouth Parkway with a 7:30pm kick off.

COME AND SUPPORT THE BUCKS!

As a club, we are passionate about football in the Community and we consider Torquay United a part of that. We play a good standard of football at a ground with excellent facilities that are just down the road from Plainmoor. We always welcome Torquay supporters with open arms at Homers Heath and we hope that that shall continue into this season and beyond. As an exclusive, we are actually planning a special offer for TUFC supporters this season when Torquay are either playing away or are without a fixture. Further information on this is being released in the coming days. So, keep an eye on our social media outlets for this, very soon! We hope you all enjoy your short trip to Homers Heath on Friday and here’s to a cracking game. Yellow Army! Amy

I simply live and breathe Football and have supported Torquay United since 1989. I am a season ticket holder on Bristows and a Trust member. I set up TorquayTalk in 2017 to give true supporters a voice and honest opinions on their club.
