PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Joe Uglow – @Joe_Ugs
A fairly successful March for the Gulls, resulting in three wins, one draw and only one loss away to Halifax. There’s probably 6 or 7 players that deserved a mention for Player of the Month but I’ve managed to narrow it down to 5!
1 – Stephen Duke-McKenna – PLAYER OF THE MONTH
21-22 STATS – PLAYED 12, GOALS 2, ASSISTS 3, YELLOW/RED CARDS 2/0, TT MOTM 2, AVERAGE RATING 7.1
1 goal and 2 assists in March for the Duke and a couple MOTM performances thrown in for good measure. Stephen’s really showed the talent he has at his disposal and will be vital for the run-in, if we are to have even the slightest chance of reaching the play-offs. It wouldn’t surprise me to see him playing in the EFL next season.
2 – Dean Moxey
21-22 STATS – PLAYED 36, GOALS 1, ASSISTS 5, YELLOW/RED CARDS 4/0, TT MOTM 2, AVERAGE RATING 6.5
Ever-present in March in a defence that managed 3 clean sheets in 5 games, Deano even popped up with a rare goal against Aldershot as well! His move to centre half has certainly added an extra couple of years to his career and his experience has been vital in forming a formidable partnership with Joe Lewis.
3 – Danny Wright
21-22 STATS – PLAYED 25, GOALS 6, ASSISTS 5, YELLOW/RED CARDS 2/0, TT MOTM 1, AVERAGE RATING 6.0
Back amongst the goals this month, Danny helped himself to 3 goals and 2 assists.
As he gets to the end of his career you wonder if Danny will still be with us next season, but he’s shown his value this month, leading the line incredibly well, keeping the ball up the pitch and allowing United’s attacking midfielders to flourish around him.
4 – Shaun MacDonald
21-22 STATS – PLAYED 25, GOALS CONCEDED 38, CLEAN SHEETS 9, YELLOW/RED CARDS 2/0, TT MOTM 5, AVERAGE RATING 7.1
Mac once again showed this month the vast improvements he’s made since last season. His handling, distribution, communication and just his all round game is so much better this year and he’s made some vital saves in March to contribute to the 3 clean sheets!
5 – Ben Wynter
21-22 STATS – PLAYED 38, GOALS 3, ASSISTS 0, YELLOW/RED CARDS 3/0, TT MOTM 3, AVERAGE RATING 6.2
Mr-ever-present epitomised himself in Tuesday’s game against Aldershot. Partner going into labour, so he drops her to the hospital, turns up at Plainmoor, plays 90 mins and then heads straight off to be at the birth of his baby boy. What dedication from Wynts! Whether it’s at Right back or right side of a three at centre back Wynts always puts in a minimum 7/10 performance and he’s been key in achieving those 3 clean sheets.
