OPPOSITION Q&A
Jamie discusses his team before Saturday’s game…
Hi Jamie so how’s King’s Lynn’s recent form been?
The last 4 games have seen us win 2, draw 1 and lose 1, although one of the wins was against a step 3 side in the FA Cup last weekend
What’s been your highlights so far this season?
Away wins at Yeovil and Maidenhead (with a last minute winner) and the first home win last weekend against Peterborough Sports. Despite the FA doing their best to ruin the competition I still love the FA cup, so to get a win was good for morale.
What would you say are your strengths and weaknesses?
Strengths is a difficult one. I would say our midfield has been good this year as has the goalkeeper. Weaknesses is that we still make silly errors that usually lead to a conceded goal. We also don’t score the goals our style of football deserves.
Who are your key players and why?
Personally Ethan Coleman in midfield has been excellent so far this season. He’s a team all winner in the middle and has popped up with some vital goals. Paul Jones in goal has been good. Very calm, experienced and doesn’t get flustered.
PLAYER PROFILE – Paul Jones
Position – Goalkeeper
Date of Birth – 28th June 1986 – 35 years-old
Birthplace – Snodland
Height – 1.90m
Previous Clubs – Leyton Orient, Exeter City, Peterborough, Crawley, Portsmouth, Norwich, Fleetwood, Sheff Wednesday
NL Stats 21-22 – Played 10, Goals Conceded 18, Clean Sheets 0
Who’s the gaffer and how does he like to set the team up?
Manager is Ian Culverhouse, and he sets the team up as a footballing side. Has loads of experience at all levels of the game and most Lynn fans say he’s our best ever manager.
What’s the likely line up?
Hard to say with the line up, we have a few injuries and the manager has played with 3 centre backs, 4 at the back, a diamond midfield and 1 up top supported by 2 wide men. Lots of possibilities.
Will you bring many supporters down to Plainmoor?
Maybe around 40-50 fans which is the usual number now. We struggle for away support and have a hardcore following who travel everywhere. Nowhere easy to get to from Norfolk!
How have your summer signings settled in?
We’ve brought in virtually a whole new squad so still taking time for some of the signings to bed in. Several have impressed while some haven’t probably played as much as they would have liked. But defensively we look better.
And finally, what’s your prediction for Saturday’s game?
As I say with most away games in this league, I’ll take a draw therefore going for 1-1
