TT #TUFC Player Ratings March 2018

Ed and number-cruncher @DomRoman checks through the TT Match Verdict ratings for TUFC from the away days month that was March and reveals our eighth TT ‘Player of the Month’:

No. Name and March TT Rating

1) Vincent Dorel 7.5

Three 8/10’s from Vincent during the month sees him pip Elliott Romain to the top spot in March and deny the striker a hat-trick of player of the month awards. The keeper has been in excellent form and has made crucial stops to keep out Leyton Orient and Chester FC, as we took home the spoils. Dorel has made very few errors since coming to Plainmoor and at the same time has become a fans favourite with the Yellow Army. Owers should be pushing him to sign a new contract for 2018-19 asap and at least make sure one position is not a problem for next season!

Man of the Match – Maidstone

2) Elliott Romain: 7.1

Speaking of fans favourites leads me onto Elliott. The striker will simply run through walls for you and has scored goals that keep us just about in sight of safety (just about!). The energy he possesses makes life so much easier for his team-mates; plus his ability to win headers and being in the right place to find the net. Our TT guys have given Romain three 8.5’s in a row (he got a 3 at Maidstone, so that’s why he’s 2nd!) and really appreciated his efforts. Elliott’s future should be in the National League at least, so his future at Plainmoor probably depends on whether an unlikely great escape 3 can be achieved.

Man of the Match – Solihull Moors and Chester FC

3) Josh Gowling: 6.8

It’s been a typical month for Josh at the club. Solid one minute and looking very much the part at the back…injured the next! His concussion at Orient was just the latest setback, and it was surprising that the defence held on without him. By the Chester FC game he was back in the frame and doing what he does best, with difficult fixtures against Dover and Fylde to come the big guy will have to be at his best (assuming he’s still fit and able by then!).

4) Brett Williams: 6.8

Brett has not exactly been back with a bang goals wise, but he did step up to score a penalty at Solihull (Jamie Reid not about this time!) and has linked up soundly with Romain (and more recently Healey). Williams twinkle toes were in evidence at Orient in the lead up to the goal and in the right mood he will always provide a threat upfront. Finally there is firepower with three strikers in tandem, if only we’d had them all much earlier. We’ll need even more from Brett to get out of this mess.

5) Conrad Balatoni: 6.8

Conrad has had plenty of criticism since joining United and I’ve been at the front of the queue! He just looked unfit and very slow to close down anyone. Well Balatoni has started to improve and got a man of the match award from Sam Jones at Leyton Orient. The defence has only conceded two in four March away matches, as the team start to show more fight and Conrad has been a big part of that. He’s a player who could play a part in our plans for next season, though I’m still not convinced.

Man of the Match – Leyton Orient

6) Tommy O’Sullivan: 6.8

7) Jacob Sokolik: 6.7

8) Luke Young: 6.6

9) Connor Lemonheigh-Evans: 6.6

10) Liam Davis: 6.5

11) Aaron Barnes: 6.5

12) Sean McGinty: 6.3

NOTES:

1) TT Rating is the average of the ratings (out of 10) from the TT Match Verdicts
2) Players only included if they have been rated in 50% or more of TUFC games
3) Players only rated in games if they have played more than 10 minutes

TT VIEWS:

Congratulations to Vincent Dorel on a second player of the month award, on a month we did start to look like a football team again! Elliott Romain also had an excellent month apart from Maidstone and both men will be key to any great escape attempt in April.

To be honest I still think the National League South beckons; with our home form it’s so difficult to see enough points being accumulated. Five wins from the final seven might do it, and we really need tomorrow’s game to be on. Woking FC haven’t won for a while, but can we shake off the Plainmoor blues that have curtailed us all season? We’ll soon see…now rain rain go away!
