THE MANAGER – SCOTT RENDELL
Many Gulls fans have fond memories of Scott Rendell from his loan spell from Peterborough United during the 2009-10 season. He also had the distinction of scoring United’s first goal on their Football League return on the opening day against Chesterfield, which saw the Gulls win 2-0.
Since then, he has had spells with Wycombe Wanderers, Luton Town, Woking, Aldershot Town, Eastleigh, Maidstone United and Havant and Waterlooville before joining the Stags in 2022. After working as assistant manager to Jimmy Ball, he succeeded him following his move to Plainmoor after a spell in caretaker charge.
PLAYER PROFILE – JOSH SIMS
Josh Sims joined AFC Totton ahead of the 2026-27 season, bringing with him an impressive footballing CV that includes Premier League, EFL, Scottish Premiership and international youth experience. A quick, skilful and versatile attacker, Sims is capable of playing on either wing, as an attacking midfielder or in a more advanced role. A product of Southampton’s academy, Sims made his Premier League debut in November 2016 against Everton, immediately announcing himself by providing the assist for Charlie Austin’s winning goal after less than a minute on the pitch.
He went on to feature regularly for the Saints during the 2016-17 campaign, making appearances in the Premier League, EFL Cup and UEFA Europa League, including playing his part in Southampton’s run to the EFL Cup Final. He also represented England at Under-17 and Under-20 level, winning the UEFA European Under-17 Championship in 2014.
Sims also gained valuable experience through loan spells with Reading, New York Red Bulls and Doncaster Rovers before joining Scottish Premiership side Ross County in 2022. Following two seasons in Scotland, he returned to England with Yeovil Town, where he added National League experience before making the move to AFC Totton in the summer of 2026.
