MANAGER – MARC WHITE

After founding the club with a group of mates in the Crawley and District League in 1999, Marc White’s journey with Dorking Wanderers has been nothing short of astonishing since. Under White’s guidance, Wanderers switched to the West Sussex League which they enjoyed a meteoric rise through before eventually reaching the Isthmian League Premier Division, which they won in the 2018-19 campaign to earn promotion to National League South.

Two years later, they reached the National League after defeating Ebbsfleet United to win the National League South Play-offs. The Wanderers then retained their National League status for two years prior to their first ever relegation in 2023-24. In the past two seasons following their relegation from National League, the Wanderers have reached the play-offs twice.

PLAYER PROFILE – JOSH BARRETT

Josh Barrett was a summer 2026 signing from Aldershot Town, where he had been a standout player for The Shots over the previous 2 seasons.

Barrett began his career with Reading FC, signing his first professional contract in October 2015. Five months later, he made his professional debut as a substitute away to Huddersfield Town. As a youngster, he also featured at international level for the Republic of Ireland, making 19 appearances from U16 to U21 level and scoring four goals across multiple age groups.

His time in Berkshire included loan spells with Coventry City and Aldershot Town, as well as a brace in blue and white during an EFL Cup victory over Plymouth Argyle. At the beginning of 2020, Josh made the move from Berkshire to Somerset, signing a two-and-a-half-year contract with Bristol Rovers. Following nine appearances during the following season, it was announced that Barrett would depart the club before joining National League side King’s Lynn Town, where he went on to score 15 goals in 86 appearances.

In January 2024, he returned to Aldershot Town, where he picked up the Fans’ Player of the Season award and capped off a fantastic campaign by scoring the third goal in their FA Trophy Final victory under the Wembley arch. Eighty-one appearances and 23 goals later, Josh has made the decision to switch to Meadowbank and join the Wanderers.

Fans will remember some fantastic goals scored by Josh at Meadowbank, including his FA Cup brace for Aldershot at Meadowbank last season.

Torquay United booked their place in the National League South Play-off final with a four-star display against Dorking Wanderers.

Deon Moore and leading scorer Jordan Young both bagged braces for the Gulls, but two late goals for the Wanderers from George Knight and Alfie Rutherford set up a nervy finish. The Gulls went close in the fifth minute when Young curled a free-kick from the edge of the box narrowly wide.

Three minutes later, Kai Enslin had a shot blocked by Sam Dreyer shortly after the United defender had cleared a cross from Dennon Lewis. On 16 minutes, Dylan Morgan cut inside onto his right foot after being teed up by Gulls skipper Matt Worthington – only to be denied by a one-handed save from Dorking keeper Harrison Foulkes, who tipped it behind for a corner. The resulting flag kick was cleared as far as Dreyer who headed against the bar.

Worthington appeared to have given the Gulls the lead in the 20th minute, but his headed effort was ruled out for offside. Moments later, Sonny Blu Lo-Everton made a bursting run into the box before finding Moore who slotted home United’s opener with his fifth of the campaign.

Ten minutes later, United doubled their lead when Morgan saw his initial shot blocked but Young connected with the rebound and fired between Foulkes’ legs. United added a third on 59 minutes when Lo-Everton found Morgan, who curled a low effort against the post which rebounded to Moore who
pounced to seal his brace.

In the 77th minute, Lo-Everton picked out Young who cut onto his left foot to complete his brace with his 18th of the campaign. The Wanderers hit back on 83 minutes when Knight headed home a Lewis corner. In the 89th minute, Rutherford further reduced Dorking’s arrears with a low strike from distance, but the Gulls secured their place in the final.
