Before being in charge at Tivvy, Scott was also player-manager at Willand Rovers, who he led to the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup in the 2014-15 season. His playing career took in the likes of Forest Green Rovers, Weston, Bath City, Newport County and Tiverton, where he scored the only goal in the 1999 FA Vase Final against Bedlington Terriers, the penultimate final played at the old Wembley Stadium.
