MANAGER – DOMINIC DI PAOLA

After cutting his managerial teeth with Clymping, Worthing United, East Preston and Hastings United, Dominic Di Paola led Horsham to the Southern Combination League title in the 2015-16 season. He followed this up by leading the club back to the Isthmian League Premier Division via the Play-offs and guided them to the Isthmian League Premier Division title in the 2024-25 campaign.

PLAYER PROFILE – ASHLEY NADESAN

A player with over 200 EFL appearances to his name, Ashley initially came to prominence by scoring 99 goals in two seasons for Horley Town in the Combined Counties League. That stellar strike rate attracted the attention of Fleetwood Town – a mere six steps up the football pyramid from Horley. A loan spell at Carlisle United saw him gain his first experience of senior first-team football, before going on to make his debut for his parent club.

Although he was offered a new deal at Fleetwood, the chance to move home to Crawley Town was too good to pass up, and it was at Broadfield that he really made his name, making almost 150 appearances and scoring 26 goals.

Subsequent moves to Gillingham and Sutton United followed, before a loan spell at Worthing at the end of the 2025-26 season, where he scored on his debut and helped the Rebels secure promotion to the National League.

Torquay United secured their first win under new manager Jimmy Ball as they defeated Horsham at Plainmoor.

United edged ahead on eight minutes as Dylan Morgan found the back of the net with a low drive after playing an incisive one-two with Dan Hayfield to score his eighth of the campaign.

In the 14th minute, Horsham won two successive corners – the second of which was cleared as far as Danny Barker who blasted over.

On 32 minutes, Deon Moore turned home a cross from Morgan – only to see his effort was ruled out for offside.

United threatened to double their advantage again in the 36th minute when a Sonny Blu Lo-Everton cross found Sam Dreyer, whose headed effort was gathered by Horsham keeper Lewis Carey at the second attempt.

Six minutes after the re-start, Jordan Young had a long-range strike tipped over the bar by Carey.

On 67 minutes, United keeper Seb Stacey dashed off his line to deny Horsham sub Harry Hedges.

A minute later, the Gulls added a second when Jordan Dyer appeared to get the final touch on a free-kick from deep from Lo-Everton.

In the 71st minute, Charlie Hester-Cook drilled a 20-yard effort narrowly wide for the visitors.

United sub Louis Dennis saw a shot from distance palmed away by Carey in injury time as the Gulls clinched all three points.
