TALKING POINTS

INJURY WORRIES
After a season of few injuries worries, they seem to all be hitting Torquay United at once. Paul Wotton confirmed that Jay Foulston and Jordan Dyer will miss February, WJD has a knock and loanee Manny Ilesanmi has gone for a scan on a hamstring issue. That along with Jordan Young’s early withdrawal last week with a leg issue that leaves him in the balance. It’s all mounting up at a time when crucial games are staring at us between now and the middle of March. There are players that can cover but all of a sudden, the squad lacks depth. Get them on the salted crisps I say….
LEFT BACK CONUNDRUM
With the injury to Foulston, the left back spot has become a little curious. Right back Jordan Thomas has filled on for the last two games, but the absence of Matt Carson may need reviewing ahead of the weekend. Although he had a difficult second half at Slough, he has largely been solid and we need to find a solution with a busy period coming up. Can he share the duties with Dean Moxey? It feels like Thomas needs restoring to the right to me.
LACK OF GOALS
With the backing that the Bryn Consortium have given Paul Wotton to reinforce this season, that is a strange headline to write. But we are lacking goals. It’s not due to a lack of quality. Absolutely not. The players are good enough. But we aren’t hitting the mark enough, as two goals from open play in four goals shows. It feels like we need to take the handbrake off a bit at home and go at teams. Whilst the previous home game was arguably one of our best performances of the season outside of the penalty box, we desperately need more end product when and where it matters most. Saturday could be the time for Mussa and Morgan to step forward.
THE OPPOSITION
Make no mistake. Saturday is another tough challenge. Eastbourne head to Plainmoor unbeaten in 11 games and we need three points to keep up with top spot. More flowing attacking play but with goals is the order of the day. The league remains so tight that three wins on the bounce, and against teams around you can go a long way. But can we do it? Saturday is massive.
THE OPPOSITION
There is not much else to be said for the incredible support this season. Just brilliant. But the players need us on Saturday. So, lets being the positivity, bring the energy and noise and roar the boys to three points.

As I have mentioned before, we need an experienced centre forward… someone like Jim Fryatt, yes I am showing my age… United needed goals, and along cam Jim…what a centre forward…27 appearances and eleven goals…1967…we need a Jim now, before it’s to late…this is a crucial period of the season, lose sight of the top six in the league, and there will be another season in this league. Over to you PW, we are in your hands.
