TUST UPDATE – 10TH APRIL

TUST

PREFERRED BIDDER

We are delighted that it appears that our beloved football club’s future has been secured and that a new prospective owner has been selected by the Administrators. This is good news and should come as an enormous relief for supporters, staff and creditors.

Whilst the TUST board and our investor partners are disappointed that we will not be able to deliver the exciting vision we have for the future of the club, we have always made it clear that we would welcome an alternative bid if it offers a positive outcome.

Given the acquisition process is on-going and the preferred bidder still has to undertake due diligence, it would not be appropriate for the TUST to comment further.  The bidder and the Club should be permitted the time and space to continue their work to bring this process to its successful conclusion.

As we have previously stated, we will support any prospective owner of Torquay United who is able to secure our future, which places the Club on a sustainable financial footing, fosters closer engagement with the supporters, the football community and local businesses and allows Torquay United to remain competitive on the pitch.

Finally, we would like to thank all those TUST members and others who have offered messages of support for what we were trying to achieve.  Rest assured we will continue to do everything we can to ensure that your voice is heard in the future running of the club.

I simply live and breathe Football and have supported Torquay United since 1989. I am a season ticket holder on Bristows and a Trust member. I set up TorquayTalk in 2017 to give true supporters a voice and honest opinions on their club.

  1. My only concern on hearing of a possible new owner who does not include TUST is that they are positive on the continued use of Plainmoor as our home.

My concerns revolve around the current political state of our country on a whole as there may be radical changes to Torbay Counci in the next few months which may alter their views on Plainmoor as a community asset but a possible “Cash Cow”.

There are many developers out there like Osborne who could afford to take a three or four year hit to release a substantial windfall at a later date.

Sorry about the pessimism and let’s hope the new owners think like the vast majority of the rest of us 🙄
