TALKING POINTS

WHY PROTEST?
If you are paying to sit, stand or bounce at Plainmoor this Saturday nobody can doubt your commitment to Torquay United.
So you don’t need to join Saturday’s protest, where a large group of like-minded fans are encouraging everyone to hold up Yellow Cards in the 20th and 60th minutes.
But here are 15 reasons why we will be doing it:
1. Little effort to publicise or promote matches- how much would a local radio advert cost, for example?
2. Ticket sales policy.
3. Stewards filming those making peaceful protests.
4. Weekly pyro tweets- we get it: there are no fireworks on or off the pitch!
5. Unaccompanied under 14s banned from attending games- I was 13 when I started. Wouldn’t & didn’t say boo to a goose!
6. The matchday experience is unwelcoming and security is excessive, perhaps intimidating.
7. Nobody accepted responsibility for or apologised for another relegation.
8. The manager is not held to account for the team’s failure- which has become ingrained.
9. No remorse, no humility: Johnson has been openly critical of loyal supporters
10. Players’ poor fitness record over a number of seasons.
11. A Head of Recruitment- the Manager’s brother- who appears not to recruit
12. Half-hearted presentation of supposed new stadium plans.
13. Osborne has never built a stadium- why would we be any luckier than Bristol Rovers or Swindon Speedway?
Back to the football……..
14. The manager trots out the same old excuses.
15. Mid-table in a part time league is unacceptable- last year we were poor but finished 8 points above Yeovil and TWENTY-THREE above Maidstone.
The protest- the first of a series leading up to the Hampton game on March 23rd- is backed by all of the following:
