OPPOSITION Q&A

Tom discusses the Boro
ABOUT ME
My name is Tom, Lifelong farnborough Fan, Currently in my first year of a Photography course at Arts University Bournemouth, and doing the All Things Boro podcast. Alan & Simon are lifelong supporters to but have a couple of decades over me
FORM
Recently we’ve started to slowly turn a bad run of form around, with two wins against Dartford and Truro at home coming after losing 4 on the bounce in contested tight games.
HIGHLIGHTS
This season in terms of highlights, I’d have to mention Aveley away, as we turned a 3-1 deficit into a 4-3 win from the 77th minute, certified with a last minute winner from Selim Saied. I think off the pitch highlights you can certainly mention players coming in and player expenditures, we’ve had another season of a lot of transfer movement, notably with strikers, we’ve had the likes of Alfie Pavey, Micheal Folivi , Dan Gifford, Connor Cullen, Hisham Kasimu , Hady Ghandour and Harvey Bradbury all line up top for us this year already most having already departed or joined on loan.
KEY PLAYERS
Key players I’d start with our reliable number 1, Jack Turner. Has kept us in many games in his now over two year stint with Farnborough. In defence, Jordan Norville-Williams is key for us, with clear ability offensively and defensively. Olly Pendlebury is a fantastic creative outlet in the midfield, and has had some fantastic career moments including a free kick goal at the Racecourse ground vs Wrexham. Winger Selim Saied is a quality technical footballer and very hard to get off the ball, and can cross very well. Finally, I’ll mention striker Hisham Kasimu, on loan from Sutton, where he left us for about a year ago now. Coming back off the wrong side of injuries but every Farnborough fan knows he can score goals.
THE MANAGER
Our manager Spencer Day is entering his 13th year with Farnborough in 2024, and likes to play a 3-5-2 system but has had to throw some square pegs in round holes with wingers at wingback, but looks like we have already tried 4-4-2 a few times but injuries to right backs have left us unable to play that.
LINE-UP
Likely line-up id say would go as follows – GK- Jack Turner, LWB – Jordan Norville Williams, CB – Edon Pruti CB – Guy Hollis – CB – CJ Fearn RWB – Selim Saied (more advanced role) , CM – Olly Pendlebury , CM – Aaron Kuhl , Cam – Reggie Young ST- Hisham Kasimu , ST – Hady Ghandour
PRE-MATCH REFRESHMENTS
For pre match refreshments, there’s a Wetherspoons not too far from the train station if you’re that way inclined (I am), but there’s also the Fox Inn, as well as the bar at the football club itself.
BEST OPPOSITION
Worthing are a side that really impress me this year, and every player we have spoke to on the podcast has shared that feeling, and they have some absolutely fantastic footballers. I also have a lot of time for Slough Town this year, having been away there twice, it’s clear to see how well Scott Davies has done with what he’s got to work with. A player I’ll highlight for them is left sided Tyrese Dyce, hasn’t failed to perform when I’ve seen him.
PREDICTION
I’ll predict Farnborough 3-0 Torquay, with goals coming from Hisham Kasimu, Selim Saied and Guy Hollis.
