TALKING POINTS

POINTS VS PERFORMANCE
Another tough watch for the most part, but another win – 4 in a row in fact. We’ll need to improve but I’m starting to wonder by how much? Braintree created one chance and took it, and in years gone by, may have got away with their time-wasting antics thereafter – but, for now at least, the officials seem to be adding on what’s deserved. I may be in the minority here, but if we keep winning while playing shite, I’m not sure I’ll care an awful lot. Of course, it would be nice to play like we did in 18/19, but we simply don’t have the personnel – yet – to do it. Let’s just keep winning for now, eh?
MIDFIELD (OR LACK OF)
We’re missing the influential Kevin Dawson for at least another month (if not longer), and Asa’s out long-term, leaving us glaringly short in the centre of the pitch. I thought Donnellan did OK in the middle on Monday, but he’s not a ball player or passer – and neither’s Laps. We desperately need an Armani Little (cry), someone who can play on the half turn and connect defence and attack. Over to you, gaffer, the EFL transfer window closes September 1st.

JARVO THE WARRIOR
Heard a few murmurs that our headband wearing number 9 can’t be arsed this season. Doesn’t fancy it. Looking for a move. What a load of tosh! Single-handedly won us the game yesterday, chasing back to the edge of our own box, winning slide tackles, the works. Won and despatched the penalty with aplomb. Well played, Aaron.
POSITIVITY
Four wins on the bounce has us in 4th, just 2 points from the summit. As starts go, it’s by no means a bad one. So, the question does beg – why is everyone so bloody miserable?! Yes, we aren’t good, but we are showing that we are good enough to get over the line in these games against, albeit part time opposition.
For about 70 minutes on Monday we were pretty terrible. The lack of a ball player in centre midfield is killing us, and long balls up to Jarvis and Ash are ineffective. But as the game ticked on, there was only one side that looked like taking the points. Braintree’s legs tired and you sensed that a killer blow was coming. And indeed, in the 4th of 8 minutes added, the brilliant Jarvis got to the ball before the outrushing keeper (you’re shit aaah!) – nothing fortunate about it, penalty.
I may be rambling, so here’s my two penn’orth. Yellows Twitter seemed a weird balance of people buzzing with a last minute winner, and those who dare I say it – want GJ out at all costs. The GJ out’ers and In Gary We Trust’ers can debate til the cows come home. But if you can’t find any enjoyment in a win, I’m not sure why you bother spending your money at Plainmoor at all.
If you got this far, thanks for reading and COYY.

Well said , I agree with everything you’ve said, we are crying out for an Armani Little although some of the So Called Supportters on these pages would be against that too 🙄.
If we have the money, which I doubt very much, a defender, creative midfielder and striker at the minimum would give us the squad to get back to the National , which I believe is about as much as we could hope for 👍
