Players come and go at Plainmoor, many stay for a while, but many stay for only a short time (especially during 2022-23). Using the alphabet and Torquay Fan Stats as my guide, I take a look at some ‘Forgotten Gulls’ who have represented Torquay United, and see what they’ve been up to since.
D – KADELL DANIEL
UNITED CAREER: Ex-Crystal Palace youngster Kadell Daniel joined Torquay on loan from Charlton in March 2015, and made his Conference debut for the Gulls in early April against Dartford. Daniel certainly showed promise in his time at Plainmoor, scoring an absolute thunderbolt of a free kick from around 35 yards at Halifax (see YouTube clip below 1min30). He also scored against Altrincham during his 7 appearances. He returned to Charlton that summer, with managerial changes and uncertain times at United, we would not see the winger again.
AFTER UNITED: He was released by Charlton in the summer of 2015 and joined Woking, scoring 3 goals in 21 games for the Cards, which included a strike against Torquay United in Oct 15, that game finished 2-2 with a late Woking equaliser from future Gull Dan Holman. He left Woking in 2016, and since then has circled London with numerous non-league clubs including Leatherhead, Doking and Hampton & Richmond. Most recently he could be found at Isthmian League team Horsham, who he joined in early 2023.
INTERNATIONALS: Kadell is a Guyana international and made his debut in 2015 against Cuba. He has scored scored 3 goals for the ‘Golden Jaguars’ and most recently appeared against Montserrat in March 2023. He featured in the CONCACAF Nations Cup in 2019 and in World Cup qualifiers in 2021.
OTHER INFO: Kadell’s middle name in Ebony. He has 12 caps for Guyana.
DANIEL STATS: AGE: 28, BIRTH PLACE: LONDON, HEIGHT: 1.78M, POSITION: MIDFIELD/WINGER
TUFC STATS: SIGNED BY CHRIS HARGREAVES MARCH 2015, APPEARANCES 7, GOALS 2
E – JAMAL EASTER
UNITED CAREER: Cardiff City youngster Jamal Easter joined the struggling Gulls on loan in January 2007 under Lubos Kubik, with fellow Cardiff youngster Nick McKoy coming down at the same time. He made his debut in the FA Cup 3rd round against Southampton, and played a further 10 games (without scoring) for the club before returning to Wales in early March, as Keith Curle tried to salvage United’s doomed 2006-07 season in League 2. Easter came back that summer and played in some pre-season friendlies, but did not earn a contract for 2007-08.
AFTER UNITED: Released by Cardiff in 2007, he then represented Carmarthen, Newport, Clevedon, Clevedon, Taffs Well, Bridgend, Rhoose and Pontypridd.
INTERNATIONALS: Jamal represented Wales at U17, U19 and U21 levels between 2003 to 2006.
BROTHER: Jermaine Easter is Jamal’s better known older brother. Playing for the likes of Wycombe, Crystal Palace and Bristol Rovers, the striker gathered up 12 caps for Wales between 2007-14.
EASTER STATS: AGE: 35, BIRTH PLACE: CARDIFF, HEIGHT: 1.80M, POSITION: STRIKER
TUFC STATS: SIGNED BY LUBOS KUBIK JANUARY 2007, APPEARANCES 11, GOALS 0
F – BAYAN FENWICK
UNITED CAREER: Ex-Crystal Palace youngster Bayan Fenwick signed a contract at Torquay United in the summer of 2015, as Paul Cox set about gathering up a new squad to tackle Conference Football. Fenwick’s time at United started well enough as he played in an opening day win over Macclesfield. He was then sent off in the third fixture at Halifax, and ended up playing only a handful more times before being released by new boss Kevin Nicholson at the end of the year.
AFTER UNITED: Fenwick moved around a few non-league English teams (Truro, Selkirk, Whitehawk), before taking a random opportunity to move to Danish 2nd Division team FC Sydvest. He has remained in Denmark ever since, playing for Jammerbugt, Bronshoj, FA 2000, AB Taarnby and Vanlose IF. He is also apparently AB Taarnby Youth Manager having gathered his coaching C Licence.
THE GUNNERS: Fenwick is a vocal Arsenal supporter on Twitter and has almost 3000 followers.
OTHER: Bayan’s Linkedin profile shows outside of Football he’s been a Consultant for two IT Consultancy companies based in Denmark (busy boy!), and having moved there in 2018, he certainly seems settled in Scandinavia. The name Bayan is primarily a female name of Arabic origin that means ‘Clear In Meaning’…just in case you wondered!
FENWICK STATS: AGE: 29, BIRTH PLACE: EASTBOURNE, HEIGHT: 1.83M, POSITION: MIDFIELDER
TUFC STATS: SIGNED BY PAUL COX JULY 2015, APPEARANCES 8, GOALS 0

Hello Dom,
Sorry for the delay. Please find the Bristol Rovers biographies attached – if you search for Torquay United, you should find plenty of players with connections between the two clubs. I have happy memories of watching away games at Plainmoor (plus a couple of Torquay fixtures against other clubs – one of my sisters lives in Babbacombe) and hope our two clubs will meet again in the Football League in a few years’ time.
If you are after any more information on players who appeared for both clubs, just give me a shout.
Best wishes, Stephen
