OPPOSITION Q&A – Altrincham FC by Erin-Beau Carroll

OPPOSITION Q&A

Erin discusses Altrincham FC

ABOUT ME

I’ve been watching Alty for a little over 8 years now, I went to my first game in 2015 against Barnsley in the FA Cup. I went with my grandad and have been going ever since. I do commentary for the club and create content for my own page the official Altrincham FC women’s page and the Altrincham program. I am also a volunteer ground staff member!

RATING THE SEASON

I would say the seasons been one to remember. I would rate it a 7/10 as we were on track to finish in our highest position for a long time this season but we’ve just fallen short. We also came so close to going to Wembley in the FA Trophy! We went out in the most heart-breaking way but I’m so proud of how the team has played this season and we have also reached the finals of the Cheshire Senior Cup! It’s been a fairly good season!

FORM

We’ve had a good run of recent form with a few wins against top teams and a most recently a draw with Dagenham and Redbridge. I think we’ll come into this game pretty confident!

HIGHLIGHTS

My highlight of the season has been York City away in the FA Trophy. It was such a special trip with the best bunch of fans anyone could wish for. The performance on the day was something else and the scenes from the fans and players after he game are something I’ll never forget!

KEY PLAYERS

Regan Linney- Since coming in from FC United of Manchester in February everything he touches turns into goals!! Jordan Hulme- Our skipper is on great form at the moment and has been scoring some great goals and creating good chances!! He’ll be a danger player for sure! Josh Lundstram- He’s not put a foot wrong all season and was called up to the England C squad earlier this year. He’s everywhere on the pitch assisting everyone !

THE MANAGER

Phil Parkinson has been with us for nearly 6 years and has done such a brilliant job with our team. He likes to play a possession based ball and keep it. We use this because we have pacey strikers and technical midfielders who link up really well together when in possession of the ball.

THE LINE-UP

We will most likely play a 433 formation but I am not quite sure who will start tomorrow ! I look forward to seeing the line-up tomorrow !

REFRESHMENTS

The King George pub about 5 minutes down the road is best for pre match drinks.

BEST OPPOSITION

Notts County were the stand out team for me. They were the best footballing side I’ve seen play against us for a long time, the quick change of possession and the quality of football they played against us was immense. Macaulay Langstaff has really impressed me scoring 41 (non-penalty !!) goals he has been untouchable this season and the standout player for me.

PREDICTION

Most likely we will be looking to the summer now, some players are on loan so hopefully we will be looking to sign them on a permanent deal! My prediction for the game is that Altrincham win 3-1 on the day with goals from Jordan Hulme, Regan Linney and Josh Lundstram.
