Carla discusses her team ahead of the NL game
THE TROPHY GAME
It wasn’t our best performance if I’m honest, but I was obviously pleased with the result and thought we deserved the win. We did ride our luck at times as you had chances that hit the crossbar and post. However, we also took our chances when we needed to and that’s what you need to do sometimes if you want to succeed in football.
WEMBLEY?
Yeah, I don’t want to get ahead of myself as you never know in a cup competition. However, as the highest ranked club left in the competition you have to think we’ve got a decent chance here. We’ve got Maidstone away in the next round and I was happy with the draw but we need to treat the game with respect if we’re looking to get the job done.
TORQUAY UNITED
I didn’t think you had a terrible game but feel you definitely lacked quality in the final third. I also think you failed to deal with us and allowed us to exploit that by doing the same things again and again. However, I thought your goal was a well executed set piece and Nico Lawrence looks likes a good young player.
HARRY SMITH
Harry Smith has been a brilliant signing since coming in. We signed him on the day we played Halifax and since then he’s scored four goals in three games. He’s massive and has such a physical presence, so it gives us the option to go over the top. As him and Kabamba settle into playing with each other more, I think it’ll work well. Smith can receive it over the top and has shown he can play it off nicely to Kabamba.
AWAY FOLLOWING
I actually thought we brought a decent number of fans at the weekend but I would guess we’ll have a few more this Saturday. This is quite an attractive weekend away for fans and given our good form I think people may have been tempted to book a trip down for this one!
NOTTS COUNTY LOSS
It was frustrating to come away on the end of a 4-1 score-line because I don’t feel like that was a fair reflection on the game. They’re obviously a very good side and were better than us which showed in the end, but our fans weren’t too happy with the circumstances of their equaliser as we had a player down injured for a while beforehand and it definitely changed the game. Saying that, it’s our first league loss since the start of November and our boys put in a good effort.
PREDICTION
I’m going to go for 3-0 to us. Danny Collinge and Ben Wynter have been missing for us since last Saturday which has weakened us at the back a bit but hopefully Collinge will be fit this weekend and I think the boys will definitely be keen to get back to winning ways.
