OPPOSITION Q&A – Taunton Town by Greg Galpin

OPPOSITION Q&A

Greg discusses Taunton Town ahead of the FA Trophy clash

ABOUT ME

So I started supporting the club in about 2006 when dad started taking me down to the games and Iโ€™ve never looked back, not missing a single game season just gone and seeing us reach FA Cup first round twice and two promotions.

RECENT FORM

Our recent league form until our defeat at Dover last night had been good, we hadnโ€™t lost in 6. We had a few postponements which have affected our momentum not playing at home in over a month, but are unbeaten at home this season

HIGHLIGHTS

The highlight of the season so far has to be beating Yeovil in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round replay 1-0, with a penalty from a former Torquay player Lloyd James to give us a tie against MK Dons. It has become one of my favourite ever memories.

KEY PLAYERS

For me our key players are Lloyd James and Jack Bycroft on loan from Southampton our goalkeeper. James keeps it ticking in midfield using his experience and Bycroft has kept us in many games this season with big saves

THE MANAGER

Rob Dray is our manager and has been for over 4 years. He usually likes to set up with 5 at the back, tough to beat and break down which a lot of teams have found with our brilliant defensive record. Rob likes to be able to have fast players who can break away and stretch the defences.

LINE-UP

I would like to think our line up will be Bycroft, Chamberlain, Wannell, Ball, Grimes, Smith, James, Lucas, Guest, Jarvis, Stearn.

STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES

Think our main strength would definitely be our centre backs who are able to dig in and keep opposing strikers out of the game, and overall being tough to beat especially against better sides. Weaknesses would be for me goal-scoring, we get in plenty of positions but itโ€™s the final third where we shoot ourselves in foot.

STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES

I am hoping over 200 Taunton fans will make the trip down, most of us going on the train making a day of it and enjoyed the experience at Plainmoor a great ground.

PREDICTION

My prediction is 1-1 with Taunton winning on penalties. Lloyd James scoring the winning pen.
