TALKING POINTS

Danny discusses talking points ahead of the replay at Derby.

FREE HIT

Perhaps a welcome distraction from our poor league form as we are huge underdogs at Pride Park. Like 9 days ago, no one will be expecting us to get anything from this game, but we can hopefully play will a bit of freedom and with the pressure off. Derby will be red hot favourites to advance through to round 2 where Newport await the winners.

TRAVELLING IN NUMBERS

The Yellow Army will once again be travelling in numbers with a reported 900 being sold prior to ticket sales closure. With it being an 8 hour round trip on a Tuesday night, that’s nothing short of spectacular. The added draw of it being a big club is of course a factor, but never the less, the atmosphere will sure to be a good one in the away end at Pride Park.

TIME FOR REST

Tonight signals our fourth consecutive midweek fixture, and it’s taking its toll on some of the squad. The likes of Hall and Lapslie look jaded and in need of a rest ahead of some vital league games. Forgotten man Smith has been sidelined not through injury, but through limitations on loanees in the match day squad. It’s evident from our defeat against Chesterfield that the starting XI needs a freshen up, and tonight could be the night we see some changes being made.

UP FOR IT

For Derby this is very much a hinderance to their already busy fixture list. With a fairly limited squad themselves, they are having to play pretty much their first choice week in, week out. They won’t fancy it, in front of a reduced home attendance, it may be the type of night for an upset…….
