THE WEEK AHEAD

Tuesday – TUFC v Aldershot @ Plainmoor (19.45 KO)

The desperate situation at TQ HQ shows no sign of letting up, as the need for 3 points is as important as ever. It’s approaching SIX months since the Gulls’ last recorded a home win in a competitive fixture. The circumstances are dire, and the opposition couldn’t be on any more of a high. After the sacking of Mark Molesley last month, the Shots have now won 3 in a row.

Sunday – TUFC v Derby @ Plainmoor (15.00 KO)

It may be a welcome distraction from the disastrous league campaign, or it may come as a hindrance, as United host the Rams in front of the ITV cameras. Derby sit in 7th place in League One.

Saturday – Oxford United U18’s v TUFC U18’s @ Oxford City FC (15.00 KO)

The young Gulls’ face a massive fixture in the FA Youth Cup first round, as they travel to Oxford. It will be a tough ask for the youngsters, but an occassion to cherish, as they look to progress in the competition.

Sunday – TUWFC v Bristol Rovers Women @ Coach Road, Devon FA (14.00 KO)

The Ladies’ host a strong Rovers outfit with 3 wins from their 6 games this season.

PLAYED FOR BOTH

Former fans favourite Tim Sills enjoyed very successful spells at both Torquay & Aldershot, playing over 100 games for each. Scott Rendell is another to have donned both colours, with his main success coming in his three year spell at the Rec. Jean Yves-Koue Niate made the switch from Plainmoor to the Shots back in January 2020.

Jamie Ward made a name for himself at Pride Park, scoring 29 goals for the Rams. Former Gulls defender Alex Watson had a brief loan speall at Derby early on in his career. Dean Sturridge was loaned to Plainmoor from County back in 1994, where he played 10 times, scoring five times.
