THE WEEK AHEAD

Friday – TUFC U18’s v Bishop’s Cleeve @ Buckland FC (19.30 KO)

Ryan Dickson’s United host Bishop’s Cleeve in the FA Youth Cup 3rd Qualifying Round.

Saturday – TUFC v Hampton & Richmond @ Plainmoor (15.00 KO)

Looking to put their league woes behind them, United host NLS side Hampton in the 4th QR. The Beavers have had an indifferent start to their campaign, having picked up 12 points from their first 11 games.

Sunday – TUWFC v Exeter City Women (14.00 KO)

It’s the County Cup, and the two finalists meet in the early rounds, looking to progress and reach the final once more.

PLAYED FOR BOTH

Former Gulls’ Iffy Allen & Kadell Daniel have short spells at both clubs. Current assistant manager Aaron Downes started life in the English leagues with a spell in London.

BIRTHDAYS

Chris Robertson – The towering centre-back will turn 36 on Tuesday.

Andy Marriott – The former Gulls #1 will celebrate his 52nd birthday on Tuesday.

Jake Andrews – United’s former wide-man, now at Poole Town, will turn 25 on Friday.

ON THIS DAY

10th October 1995 – Rodney Jack signs from Lambada FC.

11th October 1971 – Jack Edwards is installed as Torquay manager, taking over from Allan Brown.

12th October 1957 – Ernie Pym scores on his United debut in a 3-2 home defeat by Milwall.

15th October 1927 – Torquay record their first ever win in the Football League, a 2-1 win over Brentford.
