OPPOSITION Q&A

Rhys discusses the Shots
ABOUT ME
I’ve followed the Shots for over 20 years I live in Dover now but was born in Aldershot, so grew up supporting my hometown and following them over the country
HOPES AND EXPECTATIONS FOR 22-23
Possibly mid table, but I was part expecting another relegation battle and at the moment that seems to be where we’re heading.
THE START TO THIS SEASON
I’ve not seen lots of the team this season, however my understanding is we’ve not played very well other than last Saturday’s win over Barnet. In our defence we’ve played a lot of quality of opposition (notably Solihull and Chesterfield in games 1 and 2).
SUMMER SIGNINGS
The big signing was striker Inih Effiong from Woking, a player I’ve been a fan of for a while, and always great to sign one from a rival! He grabbed two goals last Saturday. Joe Partington is also a good signing but is unfortunately ruled out for a little while.
KEY PLAYERS
Inih Effiong top scorer so far this season, Tommy Willard a youth lad who’s worked his way into the team and I would’ve also said Joe Partington more for the leadership and experience he brings.
THE MANAGER
I’m a Molesley fan from his playing days. The jury is still out as a gaffer but he’s got my backing. It’s his squad this season, so the pressure is on, but let’s see how we do with a smoother run of fixtures.
STARTING LINE-UP
Hoping unchanged from the Barnet game, this team were unchanged after a defeat to Maidstone so we’ll see. Barnet (h) XI – Ashby-Hammond, Davies, Harfield, Glover, Phillips, Cordner, Vincent, Amaluzor, McQuoid, Effiong, Amartey
TRAVELLING SUPPORT
Our fans enjoy trips down to Torquay and I can see why from my numerous visits! 200/250 I reckon this Saturday.
PROMOTION CHALLENGERS
Wrexham for obvious reasons, Solihull, Notts County, Chesterfield. The usual suspects.
PREDICTION
I’ll go for 1-1. We’ve not drawn yet this season so this could be the day!
