With the season edging ever closer, I take a look once more at what the Gulls’ rivals have been up to.

Aldershot have secured the services of Hayes & Yeading Player of the Season, Francois Amartey. The Ghanian striker scored 45 in 74 appearances for the London side. There is big news at Moss Lane, as Altrincham announce they are to go full-time, the first time in their 131 year existence. Barnet have perhaps been the most active side this summer. Ben Wynter will link up with ex-Woking winger Jamar Loza and former Eastleigh midfielder Harry Pritchard. Boreham Wood full-back Kane Smith got his move to League Two, as he joins Steve Evans at Stevenage. The Wood have brought in Dion Kelly-Evans from Notts County.

Bromley had further bolstered their attacking intent with the signing of David Smith. The 23 year old had a prolific season last time out with 35 goals for Folkestone Invicta. Chesterfield secured the services of goal-scoring keeper hero Lucas Covolan on a season long loan. The Brazilian had slipped down to 3rd in the pecking order at Vale. One time (apparent) United target Omar Mussa has signed for Dagenham. The midfielder was linked with a move to Plainmoor from Weymouth in the winter. Dorking‘s main man up top, Alfie Rutherford, has been attracting plenty of interest from League One, but the forward has come out to claim the ‘rumours don’t interest him’ and has re-affirmed his happiness at the club.

Long time servant and ex-Gull loanee Danny Hollands has left Eastleigh to join Gosport Borough. Moving the other way is striker Tristan Abrahams from Carlisle. Halifax have lost a whole host of players after the departure of Pete Wild, but the re-build has began under Chris Millington as Tylor Golden and Mani Dieseruvwe are just a couple of names to come through the door at The Shay. Any rumours of Shaun MacDonald joining Gateshead may have been put to bed, as the ‘Heed’ sign goalkeeper Dan Langley on loan from Newcastle. Vastly experienced manager Alan Devonshire has made a spate of new signings for Maidenhead as they look to improve on their 17th place finish last time out.

Maidstone have announced the departure of Michael Phillips to Barnet. The midfielder made 98 appearances for the Stones. Notts County have decided to raid Kidderminster this summer, with the additions of captain Sam Austin & Geraldo Bajrami from the NL North side. Oldham‘s takeover deal remains in the balance, but John Sheridan continues to make signings with the addition of Lois Maynard from Stockport. There’s been minimal activity at Glanford Park as Scunthorpe prepare for their first ever non-league campaign.

Solihull have been busy changing their club crest, but in all honesty they shouldn’t have bothered. It’s atrocious. Southend have captured former Barnet captain Harry Taylor as they look to mount a play-off challenge. Ex-Torquay striker and Wealdstone‘s Josh Umerah has been subject to several bids from unknown clubs. The Stones have so far rejected all offers, but have stated should a suitable bid come in, he will be off. Woking have added to their attack with the astute signing of Padraig Amond, following his release from Newport.

Wrexham have gone to the market with the signing of last season’s player of the season for Carlisle, Mark Howard in goal. Chris Hargreaves has brought in Marcus Stewart to join his backroom staff at Yeovil, as he takes on the ‘head of player development’ role. And lastly, York will have an all ex-Gull forward line up next season, as Scott Boden and Manny Duku will look to link up at the York City Community Stadium.
