Paul from Magpie Circle Pod discusses his team Notts County
Hi Paul so how would you summarise your season so far?
I’d say its about a 7/10. We’ve been in around the play-offs the whole time, without ever really threatening top spot. Played some lovely football but lacked consistency in results.
How’s your recent form been?
Doing well at the minute – 10 points from the last 12 against our play-off rivals. More substance and less style, I’d say.
What’s been your highlights?
Personally, I’d say the last 4 games have showed a style of play that can get us promotion. Our loan signing Harry Arter from Forest has made a big difference.
Who are your key players and why?
Ruben Rodrigues scored a hat-trick at Southend last week to take his tally to 15. Centre half Connell Rawlinson has done very well for us at the back after coming back into the team, as has Dion Kelly-Evans.
How have ex-Gulls Cameron Nemane and Vincent done this season?
Cameron was made club captain and had been excellent – but he is out injured for a few weeks now. Vincent is a real live-wire, and Neman clearly has pace to burn but we’ve not seen a lot of him.
What tactics does the manager like to use and what’s the possible line up for Saturday?
Style-wise, we’re the Manchester City of the National League – but just not as good!! We should have the majority of the ball and play a possession-based game.
Do you fancy your chances for promotion and how much pressure is on the manager to deliver?
There is an expectation to get promotion – as there should be with the resources and players we have at our disposal. Clearly the automatic spot is gone, but the first objective is to nail down a play-off berth.
How many County supporters will make the trip?
I’d expect 600-800 – we are expecting to travel down in force.
Which opposition teams and players have impressed you most?
Stockport are clearly a cut above everyone else – good players and they play effective winning football. Wrexham appear to be hitting form at exactly the right time too.
And finally, what’s your prediction for the game at Plainmoor?
We only won 5 of our first 15 away NL games – but we’ve won the last 2 at Dagenham and Southend and look a lot more comfortable on our recent travels – will take a diplomatic 1-1 draw!
