Hi Adam – sum up Yeovil’s season so far in a paragraph?
Our season didn’t get off to the greatest of starts with a home loss to Kings Lynn, so definitely one to forget. This was then followed by wins against Stockport and Halifax but then followed 6 games without a win. But now we’re currently 1 loss in 15 and 11 unbeaten.
Your recent form has been excellent, what’s been the main reasons for that?
Our recent form has been down to being able to name a consistent balanced team, especially our defence which has been a key to our success with only 4 goals conceded In 11 games.
What’s been your highlights of 21-22 so far?
The highlight has to be this current form, 11 unbeaten which is our best for a few years and I hope it can continue over the Christmas period.
Who are your key players and why?
Key players: Wilkinson in the heart of defence along with Hunt takes some beating, also wide man Wakefield takes players on with ease and has a lot of pace, one to watch and finally right back Moss, I don’t think you will see a better young player in this league.
What sort of tactics does the manager like to use?
Tactics is attack straight from the off and keep a high press. You will see you won’t have much time on the ball.
What’s your likely line-up for the game at Plainmoor?
Line-up I expect:
Smith
Moss, Wilkinson, Hunt, Barnett
Worthington, Gorman, Staunton
Wakefield, Yussuf, Sunny-Blu
Are you optimistic of a promotion push considering your form?
Due to the small size of our squad and limited resources, we are on a fine balance and this team won’t be able to do it on their own. So reinforcements are vital if we have a chance for promotion this season.
Will many Glovers supporters make the trip to Plainmoor?
Expect a good following on Boxing Day, not sure if we sold out but be enough to make plenty of noise.
Which opposition teams/players have impressed you most?
Has to be Chesterfield for me, a well organised team and you can see why they’ve only lost 1 game this season. Keeping with Chesterfield, my stand out player is Tshimanga. He’s far too good for this league, and going to score a lot of goals this season.
The last two Boxing Day games have been thrashings, what’s your prediction this time around?
Well we struggle to score but don’t concede, so I’ll go with a 1-0 Yeovil win.
