Why TUFC?: A question I get a lot being based in Oxfordshire and with no links to the bay at all. As a kid I was football obsessed (still am to a degree), we were on holiday in Torquay back in August of 1994 and my dad took me to my first ever game which happened to be Torquay vs Northampton. The Gulls have been my club ever since. Although for a number of the early years it was basically impossible for me to follow them regularly I always had a soft spot for Torquay and really got back into it in the mid 00’s.
Favourite All-Time TUFC Players: Most of the 08-09 squad, so Chris Hargreaves, Lee Mansell, Kevin Nicholson, Tim Sills etc. Other favourites are Alex Russell, Kevin Dearden, Rodney Jack and Guy Branston.
Best TUFC Memory: Beating Cambridge to get back in the Football League in 2009. I thought that was the end of the hideous non league years…..nevermind.
Worst TUFC Memory: Ashton Gate last year against Hartlepool. Honestly there are so many I could put in here, the hapless Cup defeats over the years, the play-off loss to Exeter at home when we were cruising but last years playoff loss the way it happened was cruel beyond words. Robbed of two goals and then to lose on pens. Horrific
Favourite Spot at Plainmoor: Popside, usually just off to the left nearer the away end.
