As we edge closer to the opening day of the season, teams have been finalising their squads and managers are working out how they’ll line-up for the opening day of the new season. Some leagues have already started, with others starting either this weekend or later on this month. This month, we’ll be looking at some more Ex-Gulls on the move alongside a Welshman firing in goals left right and centre in France.

Krystian Pearce – Barbados

We start of with defender Krystian Pearce who scored an own goal as they crashed out of CONCACAF Gold Cup qualifying 8-1 against Bermuda. Bermuda went onto the next round to be beaten by Haiti 4-1 as they failed to qualify for the tournament, which was won by United States of America.

Pearce is still contracted by Boreham Wood but is currently on their transfer list. He has yet to appear in any of their pre-season games.

Jamie Reid – Mansfield Town to Stevenage F.C.

The social media transfer rumour mill was going around again with some suggestion that Reidy would be back at Plainmoor on loan, but it always felt that Mansfield Town wanted to move the striker on a permanent basis rather than a temporary one. After a season trying to push into the first team, Reid has joined Stevenage on an undisclosed fee from Mansfield Town. He’s already scored twice this preseason against Watford F.C. and Dover Athletic.

Ben Pringle – Morecambe F.C. to Altrincham F.C.

Promoted last season with Morecambe F.C., Pringle has joined Altrincham F.C. after leaving the Shrimpers. He’s spent pre-season with them as a trialist and as been successful in doing so. He could make his competitive debut on the opening day of the season at Plainmoor.

Billy Waters – Torquay United to F.C. Halifax Town

The first of the play-off final contingent to have found pastors new is Billy Waters who was released at the end of last season. The striker has joined fellow National League side F.C. Halifax Town who have bolstered their attacking options by signing Matthew Warburton and Jordan Slew this summer as well.

Aaron Nemane – Torquay United to Notts County

After turning down a new deal at Plainmoor, Aaron Nemane has joined Kyle Cameron at Notts County who have been busy this summer as they look to push for promotion. Torquay do travel up to Notts in the first month of the season and it looks to be an interesting game!

Ben Whitfield – Torquay United to Stockport County

Whitfield also decided to turn down a new deal at Plainmoor and has moved closer to home, signing for Stockport County. The Hatters haven’t been afraid of spending money in the last couple of months and this makes the promotion race look even more fascinating ahead of the new season.

Matt Buse and Josh Umerah – Torquay United to Wealdstone F.C.

Elsewhere in the National League, Wealdstone F.C. announced a triple signing with the former Torquay duo of Josh Umerah and Matt Buse being two of them. Umerah never seemed to have had a look in whilst at Plainmoor whilst Buse enjoyed a good rapport with the Yellow Army. Both players were released at the end of last season.

Myles Anderson – Weymouth F.C. to Hampton & Richmond Borough

In the National League South, defender Myles Anderson has re-joined Hampton & Richmond Borough after leaving Weymouth F.C. He had a loan spell last season at The Beveree Stadium and has joined the Guyana International pair of Kadell Daniel and Sam Cox at the club.

Daniel Leadbitter – Newport County to Gloucester City

Another defender who has joined a club on a permanent basis after spending the previous campaign on loan is Daniel Leadbitter. The right back who signed a few years ago for Newport County failed to break through at Rodney Parade and spent time on loan at both Gloucester City and Yeovil Town last season.

Gary Warren – Torquay United to Tiverton Town

The veteran centre back has joined Tiverton Town after a full season at Plainmoor. The 36 year-old is currently the Tiverton Town U18’s manager and rejected offers from other clubs to play at Ladysmead next season.

James Hamon – Truro City

One of last season’s loan contingent has signed a new deal at Treyew Road. He’ll be facing Tiverton Town and Gary Warren next season in the Southern League Premier Division South, which kicks off on Saturday 14th August.

Lathaniel Rowe-Turner – Tamworth F.C. to Stourbridge F.C.

The defender has made the switch leaving Tamworth F.C. to join Southern League Premier Division Central rivals Stourbridge, managed by former Solihull Moors boss Mark Yates.

Owen Price – Torquay United to Buckland Athletic

Youngster Owen Price was one of the players who was announced by the club to have left Plainmoor and has made the move A380 to join Buckland Athletic. The Bucks start their competitive season this weekend, hosting Exmouth Town in the F.A. Cup.

Jackson Longridge – Livingston F.C.

Moving north of the border, defender Jackson Longridge scored for Livingston F.C. in their Scottish League Cup with a cheeky flick in a 3-0 win against Brechin City. They progressed from their group behind Raith Rovers as one of the best placed second-placed teams. Longridge missed the opening game of the season due to injury, Livingston F.C. were beaten 3-0 by Rangers F.C.

Manny Duku – Inverness Caledonian Thistle

Elsewhere in the Scottish League Cup, Manny Duku scored twice but his goals didn’t help Inverness Caledonian Thistle progress from their group. He scored in their 2-0 win against Peterhead F.C. and also bagged a late consolation penalty in a 3-1 defeat against Cove Rangers.

Ruairi Keating – Galway United

Keating added 2 more goals to his tally as Galway United have made it 7 games unbeaten, only dropping points once. He scored the opening goals in 2-0 wins against both UC Dublin and Cobh Rangers. Galway United currently sit 3rd, on goals scored, 9 points of league leaders Shelbourne F.C. who after 17 games are currently unbeaten.

Rhys Healey – Toulouse F.C.

The Welshman has had an electric start to the Ligue 2 season, scoring 3 goals in the opening 2 games. Toulouse F.C. missed out on promotion in the promotion/relegation play-off game last season and a strong start from Healey is hopefully a sign of things to come for one of the promotion favourites.

Mikkel Andersen – F.C. Midtjylland to S.K. Brann

The Danish shot-stopper has left Danish side F.C. Midtjylland to join Eliteserien side S.K. Brann. Since moving to Norway, he’s yet to feature as S.K. Brann look to move off the foot of the table and survive relegation.

Tom Sermanni – New Zealand Womens National Team

We finish off our round-up with the Tokyo 2020 Olympics as Tom Sermanni took his New Zealand Women’s side into the Group of Death, which consisted of themselves, Sweden, Australia and current world champions, United States of America. Unfortunately for the ‘Football Ferns’, they finished bottom of the group, losing all 3 games.
