Rachel picks some tracks that have sound-tracked her time supporting the Gulls
Waterloo Sunset – The Kinks
Barnet away, the winner stays up dual 2001 nerve shredder, we came, we saw, some of us perched on tree branches or just braved the dodgy away end scaffolding, a detour over London bridge in the late afternoon sun and a song that dreamily captured the good vibe mood.
French Navy – Camera Obscura
Wembley 2009 Cambridge Utd play off final, Carlisle, he’s looking for Benyon……Sills!!! tremendous day. This song wasn’t far away from my MP3 player in 2009.
It’s Like That – Run DMC featuring Jason Nevins
Wembley 1998 Colchester play off final and for every high comes those crashing lows, the bittersweet of football, 2 week holiday in Javea Spain followed by a coach trip to Wembley and this hip hop DJ mix corker was playing everywhere. My tan faded along with our hopes of promotion that day.
Giant – Rag n Bone Man (Calvin Harris)
2019 Hungerford at home, despite defeat Torquay United are crowned NLS champions on a glorious sunny afternoon. We are Giant! It felt like this collaboration with Calvin Harris had been around forever. Thankfully we weren’t in the NLS forever.
The Gift – Gary Numan
12th June Plainmoor v Notts County and while our own destiny awaits, the dark lord of electro pop/industrial rock releases his 21st album Intruder, an album filled with stark soundscapes, this track The Gift with the recurring lyric ‘it’s made to take your breath away’ prophecy. Seeing Danny Wright’s name on the team sheet would certainly be The Gift we would all settle with.
