TT Opposition Q&A – Altrincham FC by David Johnson
Hi David so tell us a bit about yourself and how long have you supported Altrincham?
I have lived in Altrincham and been supporting Alty since 1976. I also volunteer for Altrincham FC Juniors.
How would you summarise your season so far?
The season has surpassed expectations due to being new boys so to speak and being part time. It was a slow start, but the last 10 games have been much improved.
What’s been your highlights?
The highlight generally has been competing well against the likes of Stockport County, teams that previously always had the upper hand.
How’s your recent form been heading into Tuesday night?
Current form has been fairly good, especially away from home!
Who are your key players and why?
Key players, that’s tricky as I say, they all play for each other.
Who’s the gaffer and how does he like to set the team up?
Phil Parkinson is the manager and he has transformed how we play over the last 3 seasons. He’ll set up to try and win the match playing a passing game.
How have your owners coped with the past year?
The club is well run by the board. Alty stay within our means and the club has a 10 year plan in operation.
What have been the main reasons for your strong season so far?
Playing as a team, they all play for each other.
Which opposition teams and players have impressed you most?
Stockport and Solihull. John Rooney is a good player to watch for set pieces and shots from distance.
And finally, what’s your match prediction for Tuesday night?
It’s going to be a very tough game against Torquay, a team who play good football. Hope for at least a draw. Say 1-1.
