Dom Roman – @DomRoman

DR – “The Gulls season started with a welcome win over Boreham Wood but stuttered a little after that as defensive difficulties and inexperience crept in, but there was still plenty of summer cheer to be had with cracking goals by Armani Little V Barnet and Jamie Reid in front of the cameras V Aldershot illuminating proceedings. An inconsistent but promising beginning to 2019-20 for United”

SEPTEMBER
DR – “Two new signings arrived in the form of Ben Whitfield and Robbie Cundy. Whitfield would soon become a fans favourite and scored on his debut to save a point at Woking. More inconsistency followed from the young Gulls team, but a win over Harrogate got Plainmoor rocking and then the month ended with an away win to savour, as Stockport were despatched 4-0 at Edgeley Park in a scintillating United away performance. Oh and the main man Jamie Reid kept scoring, proving any doubters considerably wrong week after week“

OCTOBER
DR – “October was an excellent month for United with five wins and only one defeat away at Notts County. There was FA Cup optimism (it wouldn’t last), battling wins in the National League over Fylde, Ebbsfleet, Barrow and Wrexham to put the Gulls right in the promotion race (it wouldn’t last) and the happy news of Saikou Janneh’s return to Plainmoor (it wouldn’t last). Unfortunately there were also more injuries to key players as the squad started to creak moving into November”

NOVEMBER
DR – “Ah November, a month that started with a whole load of optimism! United pushing into 2nd place by beating Halifax, being installed as the bookies favourites for promotion and a big trumpeting of praise for Jamie Reid and all. It then went decidedly pear-shaped as the club failed in the FA Cup 1st Round again at Maidstone, and then lost four National League matches to bring frowns onto the faces of the Yellow Army. Liam Davis was also injured in the FA Cup and boy we missed him as the defence shipped goal after goal to grateful opposition attackers”

DECEMBER
DR – “The poor form of November continued into December as we lurched from one defeat to another (with some brief respite in the Trophy) and supporters even started questioning the position of Gary Johnson (something that was unthinkable only weeks before), only to salvage some pride and glory with a merry Xmas win over Woking FC. Meanwhile Manny Duku left after not managing one single goal in a Yellow shirt and placing his name in amongst TUFC’s very worst signings. The club end the year in an unaccustomed spot of mid-table, in one of the most unpredictable leagues you’ll ever witness. Roll on 2020“
