MANAGER – ANDY CARROLL
Former Liverpool, Newcastle United and England striker Andy Carroll joined the Daggers in the summer of 2025 following his release by French side Bordeaux, and was appointed as interim manager in the wake of the dismissal of Lee Bradbury.
He began his playing career with Newcastle United in 2006, before spending a brief period on loan with Preston North End, during which time he scored his first league goal. He established himself as a regular in the Newcastle first team by 2008, and following Newcastle’s relegation from the Premier League to the Championship in 2009, scored 17 goals in 39 appearances to help Newcastle finish first in the league, earning immediate promotion in the process. The following season he scored 11 goals in 19 appearances, before leaving for Liverpool on transfer deadline day in January 2011, signing for a fee of £35 million,
which at the time was the record transfer fee for a British footballer.
Carroll then moved on a season-long loan to West Ham United in 2012, made permanent a year later for a fee of £15 million. He spent six injury-impacted years at West Ham, and was released in 2019 at the end of his contract. Carroll then re-signed for Newcastle, spending two years at the club until being released at the end of his contract in 2021. Carroll then moved to Reading on a short-term deal leaving the club in August 2023 before moving to France to join Amiens and later Bordeaux.
PLAYER PROFILE – NII NORTEI NORTEY
Nortey started his career at Chelsea’s academy but was released in 2013 and had a spell at Maidenhead United before joining Welling United in August 2015, where he started his senior career. He joined Wrexham ahead of the following season, but made just six league appearances before joining Solihull Moors on loan in December 2016, before joining them permanently in January 2017.
He signed for Dover Athletic in summer 2017, before being released at the end of the 2018–19 season after 6 goals in 67 league matches. He joined Chorley in September 2019 but left the club after their relegation to the National League North. He signed for Scottish Championship side Queen of the South in October 2020. Spells in the USA with Northern Orlando Hailstorm and Union Omaha followed before he returned to England recently to sign for the Daggers.

LAST MEETING
Last meeting: Saturday 11th October 2025, Torquay United 0 Dagenham and Redbrige 0
Torquay United’s five-match winning home run came to an end as they were held to a goalless draw by Dagenham and Redbridge.
Chances were few and far between in the opening exchanges, with a low drive from United midfielder Sonny Blu Lo-Everton that sailed wide in the 19th minute being the nearest that either side came to opening the scoring.
On 25 minutes, a cross from Callum Dolan narrowly eluded Louis Dennis and was gathered by Daggers keeper Sam Howes. Five minutes later, a Jordan Young corner was headed back across goal by Jordan Dyer towards fellow centre back Sam Dreyer who nodded over.
In the 34th minute, QPR loanee Cian Dillon found Dennis with a cross, but he couldn’t fully connect with it and missed the target.
Five minutes into the second half, Daggers winger Joe Haigh went on a dangerous run before cutting inside and firing straight at United keeper James Hamon. Dyer and Dillon both went close for the Gulls before substitute Dylan Morgan blasted straight into the arms of Howes on 81 minutes.
Six minutes from time, Daggers’ substitute Rashawn Scott forced a save from Hamon before one-time Gulls loanee Ashley Hemmings was denied by a block by Jay Foulston in the 90th minute.
Young then struck the top of the cross bar for the Gulls in injury time as both sides drew a blank.
