LAST MEETING
Last meeting: Saturday 5th April 2025, Torquay United 1 Chesham United 2
A second half brace from Chesham’s Alex Lafleur saw the Generals overturn their first half deficit against Torquay United to dent the Gulls’ promotion ambitions. Jordan Dyer’s first half effort had given Torquay the lead before Lafleur struck twice in the second half, which sealed the points for the visitors.
On five minutes, Mitchell Weiss beat the offside trap for the visitors before he was denied by the reflexes of Gulls keeper James Hamon. Eight minutes later, Torquay’s leading scorer Cody Cooke brought a long ball from Hamon under control before missing the target. Ozzy Zanzala twice went close for the Gulls, as they continued to dominate the proceedings.
Torquay were in front on 32 minutes when Cody Cooke looked to have given the Gulls’ the lead following a goalmouth scramble after a corner from Jordan Young, but the goal was later accredited to Dyer. Goode then made a double save to deny both Young and Cooke as the Gulls led at the break.
Five minutes after the restart the Generals equalised as Lefleur curled a low effort from 20 yards past Hamon. On 61 minutes, Samson Esan forced a smart save from Hamon as Chesham grew into the game.
Torquay came close to restoring their lead when Jay Foulston headed a corner from Young against the upright before sub Emmanuel Ilesanmi missed the target moments later.
On 89 minutes, Lefleur completed his brace with another low strike from distance which eluded Hamon to wrap up all three points.
