LAST MEETING
Saturday 25th January 2025, Torquay United 0 Hampton and Richmond 1
Torquay United’s unbeaten home record came to an end as they fell to defeat against Hampton and Richmond Borough.
The Gulls threatened in the third minute when Jordan Young teed up Finley Craske for a cross that Jordan Thomas backheeled into the arms of Beavers keeper Max Merrick. United continued to dominate the proceedings as Dylan Morgan tested Merrick with a long range effort that the Hampton keeper parried away on 14 minutes.
In the 26th minute, the Beavers went close as James Roberts saw an angled strike turned behind by Gulls keeper James Hamon. On 34 minutes, Mauro Vilhete found the back of the net for the visitors, but it was ruled out for offside. Six minutes before the break, Morgan was denied by an acrobatic save by Merrick after good work from Young.
In the second half, the Beavers edged ahead when Vilhete got the better of the Gulls’ backline before slotting home in the 56th minute. United came close to equalising on 62 minutes when Dan Hayfield headed a corner from sub Omar Mussa straight at Merrick. In the 68th minute, Merrick produced a stunning double save to twice deny Young.
Young was denied again on 90 minutes before sub Lirak Hasani saw a header tipped away by Merrick in injury time, as the Beavers claimed all three points.
