MANAGER – JIMMY BALL
The son of former World Cup winner Alan Ball, Jimmy Ball was appointed as manager of the Stags in March 2022 and led them to promotion to National League South in the 2024-25 season.
He had previously had a spell in interim charge at Forest Green Rovers in April 2021, following the sacking of Mark Cooper. By doing so, he created a small piece of history as he became the third generation of his family to manage in the Football League after his father, Alan, and grandfather, Alan Snr.
He has also held the position of first team coach at Stevenage and played for BAT Sports after being a youth team player at Exeter City and Southampton.
PLAYER PROFILE – SCOTT RENDELL
Many Gulls fans have fond memories of Scott Rendell from his loan spell from Peterborough United during the 2009-10 season. He also had the distinction of scoring United’s first goal on their Football League on the opening day against Chesterfield., which saw the Gulls win 2-0.
Since then, he has had spells with Wycombe Wanderers, Luton Town, Woking, Aldershot Town, Eastleigh, Maidstone United and Havant and Waterlooville before joining the Stags in 2022.
