NEW GULL PROFILE

Sam talks about the newest Gull
What is this nonsense. A new signing announced in May? Preposterous. Not three weeks after the club has published its Retained List did the Gulls announce their first new signing off the Summer. Step forward Zimbabwean midfielder Munashe Sundire, or Nash for short, who has joined the Gulls from National League North side Tamworth. Via a stint at VZN FC in the Baller League, of course. But who exactly is our new midfielder, seen in the announcement video giving Luke Littler a run for his money?
CAREER SUMMARY
Munishe Sundire, or Nash, was born in Harare in 1997. He found himself in the UK and ended up at Banbury. He bounced around the Lower Leagues for a while, which saw him join Chesham, Kettering and St Ives before joining Hemel Hempstead in 2019. He made his Hemel debut in 2019, wracking up a total of 11 appearances for The Tudors before moving to St Albans in November of that year. He spent a couple of years at St Albans, then had stints at Kings Lynn and Slough before joining Tamworth in February 2024.
He would go on to make 43 appearances for the Lambs, including one off the bench against Spurs in this years FA Cup, before leaving them to join the Gulls. He also had a stint at VZN FC in Sky’s 6-a-side Baller League, where he played along side former Notts Forest legend Henri Lansbury. VZN FC was apparently managed by TBZJL. Any idea? No, me neither.
HIGHLIGHTS
Here he is scoring from distance for Slough against Taunton in 2024:
And here he is firing home for Slough again, this time against Hampton and Richmond:

TALKING ABOUT NASH
Andy Peaks on Nash when he left Tamworth for United – “Nash has played a major part during his time with us. Joining us half way through our National League North season to help with our our promotion and then finishing tenth in our first season in the National League.”
Scott Davies on Nash when he joined Slough – “I’ve been looking for someone to add that real bite to midfield when we need it…he will also add real quality when in possession of the ball and hope to drive our midfield forward.”

MOST LIKELY/LEAST LIKELY
Most Likely To
- Play the deepest of a midfield three. He seems to be a energetic defensive midfielder, so expect him to sit just behind the other two midfielders for us next season.
- Cover at right back. He’s played quite a few games at Right Back in his career, so expect to see him there if duty calls.
- Have a great chant for the Yellow Army to sing. There have already been some on the old Twitter, referencing amongst many things the former President of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe. Didn’t think you would see his name ever pop up in a TorquayTalk article, did you?
Least Likely To
- Score many goals. In 166 games, he’s only managed 4 goals and 3 assists. I get the impression he’s more of a midfield dynamo who can help link things together and protect the back 4.
- Play every game. He seems to have some injury problems, having only really averaged 30 games a season over the past few years. However, this is his first time in Full Time football so lets hope that helps.
CONCLUSION
It was a truth universally acknowledged that United’s weak point last season was their midfield. This was most obvious in the Play-Off Semi Final defeat too Boreham Wood, as we were walked over. One reason for this was that Threlkeld did not have the legs anymore to cope with the more dynamic midfield. Step up Nash, who can hopefully solve that problem for us. More energy in the midfield, with players like Hayfield and Hasani in front of him feels like an upgrade already. It’s also a good show of intent from United to start their transfer business early. Let’s hope there are many more incomings still to come.
