Joe looks at who the Gulls could sign this summer
HARVEY GREENSLADE – STRIKER
A striker I was surprised we didn’t bring in last summer, but perhaps we were pipped to his signature by Yeovil? It hasn’t gone to plan for Harvey at Yeovil as many of their new recruits seem to have found. A fresh start & an opportunity to link back up with Jordan Young & Dylan Morgan may suit Greenslade who spent part of this season on loan at Weston-Super-Mare. He’s only one year in to a two year deal but Mark Cooper has shown he’s not afraid to cut his losses on players he doesn’t believe are good enough for the National League.

SHAUN MACDONALD – GOALKEEPER
Return of the Mac? Released by Exeter and still based in Torbay, Shaun may want one last go at being a No.1 before calling time on his playing career. Did a more than adequate job when last at this level although I would worry what a couple years as a no.2 have done to him, as we learnt the hard way with Mark Halstead in his first season with us.

OLLIE BRAY – STRIKER
Out of contract this summer the 21 year old has struggled to make an impact at Aldershot Town since his arrival in November 2023. Signed from Willand after posting an impressive goals and assists record in the Southern League Bray has subsequently had loans at Truro (under Wotton) and more recently Weston-Super-Mare. Bray can play out wide in a three or up front in a two, & at 6ft3 provides an aerial threat also.
He’s had trials at Premier League clubs such as Man Utd and would fit the profile that Bryn Consortium wanted to bring to the club; young with a point to prove and plenty of potential that could be harnessed to result in a future player sale.

RICHARD CHIN – WING-BACK/WINGER
A player I really wanted us to bring in last summer! After a couple of trials across the National League Farnborough secured Chin’s signature last summer. The right wing back was a constant thorn in our side last August when we visited and he went onto have an impressive season, scoring 7 goals in 44 matches from wing-back, as well as numerous assists. He’s under 23 so would require a fee even though he’s out of contract but given he’s only spent one season with Farnborough this would likely be nominal.

HARRY KITE – MIDFIELDER
An Exeter City youth graduate who suffered an unfortunate injury last summer which meant he spent a large part of last season out of contract and in rehab. He signed for Yeovil towards the end of the season and went on to make 7 appearances, impressing the Yeovil faithful.
It’s unclear whether Mark Cooper will offer him anything more permanent this summer especially as their ownership saga continues but I’m sure we won’t be far behind in offering the 24 year old midfielder a deal. Could the prospect of a promotion push in front of 4000+ fans work in our favour? He has ex team-mates in the squad such as Jordan Dyer, Dan Hayfield & Matt Jay and no doubt they will be on the phone this summer trying to get him down to TQ1.
