We don’t hang around at TT! Joe looks at who the Gulls could sign this summer
PEDRO BORGES – MIDFIELDER/WINGER
Other than Young this season we struggled for true width in our side. Borges could be the answer to that. Out of contract at Exeter City, he spent the latter part of the season on loan at Weston-super-Mare where he made 11 appearances, scoring twice. As well as out wide, he can play across the midfield so offers versatility too. If Exeter do retain his services then a season long loan may be an option, but if they don’t then a permanent deal could be a decent move for both sides.

DYLAN KADJI – MIDFIELDER
The imposing centre midfielder impressed when we visited the Optima Stadium in February. At 21 he’s a great age to develop and is likely to be out of contract having only signed for Weston last summer. A Bristol City graduate, the Cameroonian can play in centre midfield as well as centre back, so once again offers versatility as well as being a key NLS performer.

TOM LAPSLIE – MIDFIELDER
Easy one to include here, Tom has stayed down in the bay whilst completing his rehab from his ACL injury and has trained with the squad since February. Wotton has made no secret that he would have retained Lapslie last summer had he not picked up his injury and you can’t argue that we have lacked a voice on the pitch who will antagonise the opposition as well as get in the ref’s ear. It’s a concern given his injury record even prior to his knee injury so a Pay-As-You-Play deal or at the least a heavily incentivised appearance fee based contract may be our preferred option.

HARRY LEE – GOALKEEPER
Given Matt Wonnacott’s struggles this season with his multiple arm fractures, and Hamon’s patchy form, Wotton may opt for a stronger No.2 next season. Especially as it’s rumoured the NLS will be increasing the amount of substitutes allowed on the bench to 7 next season. If so, Torquay fan Harry Lee could be the man he turns to. Another frustrating season for Lee at Exeter City, he may opt to leave after spending the latter part of the season on loan at Dorchester Town, similarly to us Lee also suffered play-off heartbreak, against AFC Totton.

DAVID KAWA – WINGER
The Aveley wide-man had a great season with The Millers despite their relegation. Scoring 10 goals from out wide he’ll no doubt have a queue of teams looking at him this summer. He was Aveley’s best player when they came to Plainmoor operating in a wing back role, showing both defensive & offensive sides to his game. Perhaps the fact he was at Peterborough at the same time as Sam Dreyer may give us the edge in tempting the 21 year old down to TQ1.

CHEICK DIABATE – CENTRE BACK
The 23 year-old Exeter City Centre Back finds himself well down the pecking order at St James Park and may well be allowed to leave this summer. Having played under Paul Wotton before he’s sure to be high on Paul’s shopping list. We will probably face tough competition from clubs in the National league, especially Yeovil or even Truro but Paul’s existing relationship with Cheick may work in our favour.
