TT PREVIEW
TUFC V BISHOPS LYDEARD – 30.03.25 – 2PM – PLAINMOOR
Torquay United Women make a long-awaited return to Plainmoor on Sunday with a game against Bishops Lydeard. Lee Mann’s team sit second in the snappily-titled Regen Arable South West Regional Women’s Football League. They are battling for the only promotion spot with Marine Academy Plymouth, and currently sit 11 points behind them in second place- but the Yellows have 4 games in hand and there is quiet confidence in the camp that the league title is still In reach.
I have seen a handful of games this season and I would say a hallmark of the Torquay squad is their willingness to work hard and support each other for the full 90 minutes. Lucy Solloway has been a big threat, bringing strong running and plentiful goals up front.
But the people who know this team better than anyone are club captain Danni Wyatt and manager Lee Mann. Here are Lee’s thoughts on his own team and the opposition:
SEASON SO FAR?
Torquay: After a complete rebuild in the summer, our season so far has been very successful, The league title is still in our hands.
Bishops Lydeard: Bishops have struggled this season with injuries and at the start of the season I would have put them as being a mid-table team.
RECENT FORM?
Torquay: We are unbeaten in 6 in the league, and we have only lost 2 games all season.
Bishops Lydeard: They haven’t won since October when they beat Poole 1-0 but haven’t had a heavy loss and they been pretty much in every game and competitive.
STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES?
Torquay: We are strong right through the squad. In attacking areas we are the best in the league. We have a weakness of not believing in our own ability in the bigger games. Mindset.
Bishops Lydeard: When we played them at the start of the season, they weren’t bad going forward but lacked energy in the midfield which allowed us to control the game.

KEY PLAYERS?
Torquay: This season for me so far it has been Jasmin Reid in goal and (attacking midfielder) Tee Kaptein who always sets high standards in training and in matches.
Bishops Lydeard: Players to watch will be Molly Meakins & Holly Miller.
POSSIBLE LINE UP?
Torquay: We have all players available apart from Kayleigh Brown so lots of selection headaches for me this week!
Bishops Lydeard: Wouldn’t have a clue on possible line ups. Would expect them to line up defensively.
PROMOTION CHANCES?
Torquay: Promotion chance is again very much in our hands. basically, if we win all our games, we take the title by 4 points.
Bishops Lydeard: No promotion chance unfortunately, relegation is very likely.
PREDICTION?
Lee predicts anything up to a 7-0 win, which seems reasonable given that Torquay won the previous meeting in Somerset 5-0.
Danni has been a little more cautious and gone for a 4-1 win.

It promises to be a great Mother’s Day afternoon, with every chance of a big win. You can get a ticket on the day (ticket office open from 12 noon), or online here: https://torquayunited.ktckts.com/event/tor2425tuwfc/torquay-united-women-v-bishops-lydeard-ladies
