TT PREVIEW

Sam discusses the Millers
SEASON SO FAR
Tough doesn’t even cut it. Expectations were high after last season, but this year it’s shown how much we were punching above our weight maybe. Jonathon North, our keeper, retired at the end of last season. He had some massive gloves to fill. We’re on our fourth keeper this season. If only James Holden had started the year with us. Then we lost two players to Sutton, Siju Odelusi and Eduino Vaz. Siju was top scorer last season. They have gone on to have a good season. Then others have left for more money. A couple selling their souls in the process. Ultimately, the players that have come in haven’t been good enough. Injuries have killed us too. The lowest budget in the league means relying on loanees from other clubs too.
RECENT FORM
Mixed is an understatement. You never know what you’re going to get once we kick off. Our main issue has been staying alert for 90+ minutes.
HIGHLIGHTS
The away days are always the highlights. Weekends away in Torquay and Truro. Meeting great fans. Getting our first win at home to Dorking. Beating St Albans 6-3 after going 3-1 down at half time. the same game a group of ground hoppers from France were in and the atmosphere was fantastic that evening. And the out sub keeper Jack West, coming on up front for the last 10 minutes last Sat was pure entertainment.
KEY PLAYERS
Captain Jason Ring has been dependable as ever. Brooklyn Kabongolo came in early in the season at CB and has been immense also. He has a big future I’m sure. David Kawa would have had more goals on his tally of his season hadn’t been disrupted with injury.
THE MANAGER
Legend! That’s the only word you can use for Danny Scopes really. What he and his team, have done for this club in a short period of time has been nothing less than a miracle. Winning the Isthmian North after 6 months in charge. Promotion to the VNLS on the first attempt. Playoffs in the first season. On top of that, he is genuinely one of the nicest guys you’ll ever likely to meet. Always has time for everyone. Absolutely gutted to see him go.

PRE-MATCH
There are several pubs very easy walking distance from the ground. West Street has a few good pubs and also Cobbetts microbrewery. Just up on South Street is the Spotted Dog which is another good pre-match venue.
BEST OPPOSITION
I have to say Eastbourne. Over the two games we played they controlled both games. Other teams like Dorking, Bath, Worthing had the better in one game when we weren’t at our best.
BOUNCING BACK IN 25/26
It’s far too early to say. Firstly it depends on who comes in over the summer. Realistically, we overachieved and never expected to be here in the first place. For me. I’d like to see us settle in the Isthmain Prem next season. And build on that. If you go for broke, we could end up with a double relegation.
PREDICTION
We haven’t lost to Torquay yet… so it would be nice to keep that record. I’ll go 1-1.
