TT PREVIEW

Michael discusses his team
SEASON SO FAR
In one word – disappointing..!
RECENT FORM
A vital 2-1 win on New Year’s Day vs Enfield Town followed by a 1-0 defeat at Eastbourne. They scored with their only serious attempt on goal and we hit the post and had a couple of other decent chances, We then drew 0-0 at Weston-super-Mare. We are able to stay in game – just need to be a bit more clinical in front of goal.
AVOIDING RELEGATION
We really hope so! It’s not going to be easy but we have the players and management to do it.
KEY PLAYERS
Ken Charles is the first key player. Ken is an explosive CF who has a real strong turn of pace which defenders really struggle to cope with. Although it’s sounding like he will be out with Injury. The other key player is center-half Deon Woodman who is with us in his 2nd spell this season on loan from Wealdstone. He is a giant in defence at 6’4 and really leads our defence well. Just need to look at our league results when he’s played. 3 Wins, 4 draws and 2 losses. That just shows how much he improves us as a side
THE MANAGER
Ian Culverhouses play style focuses around getting the ball into attacking areas as quickly as possible, whether that’s through quick passing or playing it long if needed. On the defensive side he deploys a medium level defensive line but the defenders first instinct is to clear their lines instead of playing it out the back.
POSSIBLE LINE-UP
Michael Johnson, Jack James, Deon Woodman, David Longe-King, Tafari Moore, Alfie Bendle, James Claridge, Zane Banton, Dom Hutchinson, Harrison Smith, Shaun Jeffers
PRE-MATCH REFRESHMENTS
We’ve the clubhouse and 4 pitchside bars in the ground – so plenty of choice there as well as great food options. Within 5-10 minutes walk of the ground, you have plenty of pub choices too – The Mermaid, Robin Hood are excellent. You’ve then also got The Crown, The Victoria, Blacksmiths Arms, The Cock Inn, The Horn all close by – and even more choices if you want to venture a bit further to the city centre, Cathedral and Verulamium Park areas.
CROWD NUMBERS
Expect this will have 2000+ – we had just under 2000 for New Years Day in miserable weather and two sides in the relegation spots. Tickets are apparently selling very well for this game.
BEST OPPOSITION
Boreham Wood looked like the type of team that wins this league. Organised, physical, experienced, and a clinical finisher up front in Kwesi Appiah. I also really liked Josh Hedges at Salisbury – adds a real threat when going forward and Salisbury do seem to struggle when he’s not in their team.
PREDICTION
I’d love to see us get a surprise win but feel you may have that extra bit of experience over our younger side – and edge us out by 2-1.
