TT PREVIEW

Mark discusses his team
SEASON SO FAR
There were some early season results that could have gone either way but went against Welling. That left the club lower than might have been the case. Some of the new signings didn’t work out but I’m hopeful that things will pick up in the second half of the season.
RECENT FORM
After four unbeaten, Welling lost three in a row before winning on Tuesday evening.
HIGHLIGHTS
Beating Farnborough 4-1 when they were top and winning at Slough after they had gone over a year unbeaten at home.
KEY PLAYERS
For the purpose of this game, Chiori Johnson and Daniel Martin because they will want to do well against a former club. Both needed to be substituted on Tuesday evening so I hope that they will be fit.
THE MANAGER
Rod Stringer has been manager of a few teams on the other side of the River Thames. He has had a lot of success in his time with the various clubs. He, and assistant manager Kevin Watson, will do their homework and will prepare tactics accordingly but it will also depend on who is available.
POSSIBLE LINE-UP
The squad is small so much will depend on who came through the game with Weymouth on Tuesday unscathed.
BEST OPPOSITION
Aaron Blair of Maidstone United looks a good player. Boreham Wood are the best team that we have played so far.
AWAY SUPPORT
I’ll be surprised if there more than 100 with high GWR prices and being so close after Christmas.
STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES
You tell me. You’ve seen Welling this season!! A weakness is probably inconsistency and a strength of the club is in developing young players. A few of last season’s group are now in the National League or higher.
HOPES FOR 2025
To ease up the table without any late season drama and to then regroup in the summer.
