WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE

Let’s start by taking a moment to consider that WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE. After the journey that 2024 has taken us on that we all know, those words were unthinkable in February this year. The way the club has changed and evolved since has been nothing short of incredible. Yes, we have won nothing. Yes, it matters for nothing now. But the fact it’s a sentence I can write fills me with incredible pride.

HOME COMFORTS

All through the early part of this season, there were concerns about our home form and how damaging some draws might prove to be. But recent weeks have seen a more consistent series of results and far fewer worries. The home form is the bedrock of any successful team, and that is starting to be proven with the Yellows being at the summit.

QUALITY ADDITIONS

One of the key rules in football recruitment is only bring players in if they are better than what you already have. And boy has Paul Wotton done that. WJD, Jordan Young and Jordan Thomas have taken the squad and team to the next level. The addition of Jack Wood looks to be another important piece if business, and the squad looks ready to roll. Hopefully the upward trajectory can continue at Plainmoor on Saturday.

UNSUNG JAMES

There can be no doubt that James Hamon will have been frustrated at some of the goals that were conceded early in the season. Whilst they weren’t howlers, I reckon he will have wanted to do better. Some unfair criticism headed his way also. But he has become very much unnoticed, which is what you want for your goalkeeper. He is performing with the minimum of fuss. A solid defence also helps.

THE OPPOSITION

Hemel Hempstead cone to Plainmoor off the back of their first win in a while. A good start gave way to a nightmare run and change of manager. Their defensive record is among the worst in the league. They will be boosted by that win but another front foot start could see United to another win. In front of 4000? Could be you know.
