Alan and Simon talk about Boro
ABOUT ME
A: My name is Alan, I’ve been a Farnborough fan since childhood having lived and grew up in the town. I host the All Things Boro Podcast with my co hosts Simon & Tom.
S: I’m Simon, Chelsea and Farnborough fan, father of one, podcaster and sports fan.
SEASON SO FAR
A: So far I think most of us Boro fans will be happy with how the season has gone. 4th with 36 points after 20 games can’t be complained about. This time last season we were in a poor run of form and looking behind us at the relegation zone, so we are in a great place currently.
S: We’ve had a really good start to the season, apart from the cups. Decent crowds and progress both on and off the pitch.
FORM
A: Recent form has been ok. Two losses and three wins in the last five games is not too bad. As a whole it’s definitely play off chasing form which is where we want to be.
S: Very good form, even in the games we have lost against some of the top teams, we have been competitive throughout.
HIGHLIGHTS
A: Having Dorking come to town and being there to watch it despite the narrow loss is definitely a moment for me. Speaking to Marc White before the game was great too personally. But Torquay at home for the second game of the season was our first real test with the squad we have and a 1-0 win was well deserved I think.
S: Beating Torquay in our first home game of the season, including meeting Neil Warnock.
MANAGER
A: Spencer has done a great job with this team and this club. He knows what kind of player he wants and knows where to find them. He knows how to get the best out of these players on the pitch with the budget we have. I can’t imagine the club without him to be honest.
S: Spencer is doung a really good job with a smaller budget than most in our league. He has recruited well and has added to last seasons squad.
POSSIBLE LINE-UP
A: We have a small squad, probably one of the smallest so most Boro fans will have an idea of how we will line up. But I’m not telling you guys so you can pass it on!!!!!
S: 3-4-3, No Kuhly sadly as he is suspended.
KEY PLAYERS
A: This season Ricky Holmes has blown everyone away. Richard Chin has been a joy to watch too and as ever Jack Turner has shown why he’s the best keeper in the NLS.
S: Ricky Holmes and Richard Chin have been outstanding this season, plus Millar up front holding the line. As 19 year olds go, he has shown real maturity.
BEST OPPOSITION
A: If I’m being brutally honest, not many have impressed me that much. All our defeats have come from our own mistakes. But if i’m pushed, I would say Dorking.
S: Tonbridge Angels, they did a proper job on us. Dorking were very good also.
AWAY SUPPORT
A: There is a coach going down so that with those travelling by other means, I’d say close to 100. Unfortunately Simon and I aren’t able to go which we are gutted about.
S: 70-90.
PREDICTION
A: 2-1 to the Boro. Looking forward to that double over you lot!!!
S: 2-2.
