TRUE GRIT
On what was a grey, wet and windy day in The Wood, to come away with something was always going to take a strong effort. Conditions were always going to play a part in this game and they did, however away from home a resilient TUFC made sure they went back down the motorway with a point. The performance was exactly what was required on the day in a game that we never looked like winning, but a game in which we refused to let the home team take all 3 points.

HAMON ON FORM
Goalkeepers have it tough, when the 10 outfield players make a mistake most of the time it’s covered or rectified, when goalkeepers make a mistake it usually impacts the game significantly. Goalkeepers, like strikers, have it tough also because for long periods of the game they may not be involved whatsoever, and then bang, within a split second they are involved in a major chance or opportunity and they need to step up. They always have to be alert. James Hamon was not only alert on Saturday, but he stepped up also. Several occasions Boreham Wood would have a breakaway attack and sometimes outnumbered the defenders, but Hamon played well and his decision making and execution was spot on.

YOU CAN’T START A FIRE WITHOUT A SPARK
Football fans are fickle and quite rightly so, they pay their money they go to games, they don’t just want anything…….. they want everything! Nothing wrong with that. From what I see through my uneducated eyes is a team that is getting solid defensively, that’s wants to be robust and hard to break down, that’s just needs to find that spark from midfield or upfront to get the ball in the onion basket. They say they hardest thing in football is to stick the ball in the back of the net, I disagree, the hardest thing in football is turning up to away grounds that have running tracks, plastic pitches and clubhouses and try to get motivated for a game of football*
*That is not a serious comment it’s sarcasm (which they say is the lowest form of wit – don’t care don’t want to be witty)
What I’m trying to say is, it’s coming! Not winter, that’s already bleddy here, The Spark – it’s coming. Moussa, Hasani, WJD are there or thereabouts, it will all click soon. I’m no Clinton Baptiste so I can’t look into the future but I do think that if required some loan signing someday, one day may just be that spark to get this fire burning. It is coming!

THE WOOD
This is a team that will be in the mixer at the end of the season. The pace and width they had in the team will cause problems for the majority of clubs in this league. They looked like a team that could go on a run and win the whole thing. One thing is for sure if we are both in the play-offs come the end of the regular season, going into the post season I would not want to be facing them again.
MIDFIELD STEPPING UP
Always have to finish with the special mention, yet again, incredible! The numbers that were there on Saturday was a testament to the fanbase and the club. On what was a bleddy awful day, so many fans turned up and were vocal. As I have said before I am no fortune teller, however I do see The Yellow Army playing a huge part at points for the rest of this and this could be the difference between us going up or us being sentenced to a third term in this league.
