NEW GULL PROFILE

Sam talks about the latest Gulls loansigning
Another signing, another Yeovil player, another Jordan. Young full back Jordan Thomas has signed on loan from the Glovers, but who is the new man at TQ2?
CAREER SUMMARY
The newest Gull was born in Greenwich, and joined the Charlton academy in 2010 at the age of 9. He bounced around various academies before joining Norwich in 2018. He would make his first competitive appearance for the Canaries in June 2020, appearing in the last few minutes of a 5-0 defeat at Man City. He joined Leyton Orient on loan for the 2020-2021, but failed to make an impression and was released by Norwich in the summer of 2021. He then joined Barnet, where he stayed there for 2 years before moving south of the Thames to join Hampton and Richmond Borough in March 2023. He was a stalwart for the Beavers for 18 months, making 41 appearances and scoring 3 goals in the process. In the summer of 2024 he moved to Huish Park on a two year deal, making 5 appearances for the Glovers before joining Salisbury on a months loan. Once that ended, he moved down to the English Riviera to join the Gulls on loan for the rest of the season.
HIGHLIGHTS
Here he is this season equalising for Salisbury at a very wet Chelmsford.
And here he is scoring for Hampton and Richmond at Chippenham last season:
TALKING ABOUT JORDAN
Salisbury Manager Brian Dutton when signing him on loan in September 2024 – “Delighted to bring Jordan to the club he’s an attacking full back who will excite the fans. He’s a player we have tracked since last season, and we know what he will bring to the group.”
THOMAS STATS
DATE OF BIRTH: 2ND JANUARY 2001 – 23 YEARS-OLD
BIRTHPLACE: LONDON
HEIGHT: 1.79M
POSITION: RIGHT BACK
NLS 24-25 STATS (SALISBURY): APPEARANCES 8, GOALS 1, YELLOW CARDS 0, RED CARDS 0
MOST LIKELY/LEAST LIKELY
Most Likely To
- Play in multiple positions. According to TransferMarkt, in his young career he has already played Centre Back, Left Back, Right Back and Right Midfield. Maybe this signals a chance in tactics from Wotton.
- Bomb up and down and down the wing. Everything I’ve read has described him as an attacking full back, so expect him to get forward at every opportunity.
- Get confused with Jordan Young. Lets be honest, we’ve signed two players with the first name Jordan from Yeovil in the last few weeks so most of us won’t remember who is who.
Least Likely To
- Sit back and defend. Every clip I saw of him (two clips) showed him being among the furthest forward players on the pitch. I don’t think he’ll sit back much.
- Score against 90% of the League. His four professional goals have come against Chelmsford (twice), Chippenham and Cheshunt. So watch out for him in our games against them this season.
CONCLUSION
This was a signing that sort of came out of the blue, but not necessarily a bad one. Compared to our other full back options, who are either too defensive or struggling to impress, Thomas could really help our attack. If he can play further forward, this might be a sign that Wotton is happy to shift to a 4-4-2/4-3-3 with Thomas as one of the wingers (and maybe Young as the other with Cooke through the middle). He impressed TT and the Yellow Army in his debut on Saturday against Truro, lets hope he keeps it going.
