Joe dissects the key moments from the game at Plainmoor
27 MINS – DISALLOWED GOAL
Worthing can feel aggrieved that this effort was chalked off for offside. A Torquay attack was broken down by the Worthing defence releasing the impressive Jack Spong who played in a lovely well timed through-ball for the galloping Muhammadu Faal to get on the end of. His shot squirmed under Hamon (who should have done better) just as the linesman raised his flag and the goal was ruled out. Replays show Faal was a good 5 yards onside, a rare bit of luck for United this season.

36 MINS – WORTHING GOAL
Conceding from long range is becoming a bit of a nasty habit at Plainmoor and Tuesday night carried on that theme. The link up between Cashman & Spong caused us problems all game, and they exchanged passes just outside the penalty area on the right. Threlkeld failed to follow Spong as he picked up Cashman’s backheel, and with Hasani failing to close him down he unleashed a powerful shot to Hamon’s left. The keeper may feel he could have done better with it, given the ball wasn’t too far from him, but it was a fine strike nevertheless.

51 MINS – TUFC EQUALISER
Finally the Moose was given more than 20 minutes in a league fixture and he paid the manager back within 6 minutes of this introduction. The creative trio of WJD, Hasani & Mussa exchanged passes which allowed the Moose to turn and drive towards goal, just as the defenders started to close him down he let rip with a lovely right footed shot into the bottom corner past the Worthing keeper. Mussa’s ability to find gaps in-between Worthing’s defence and midfield gave United different avenues to their attack and this was the perfect example of what he can bring to the team.

71 MINS – TUFC WINNER
Mussa’s corners were looking dangerous and despite the previous attempt going straight out for a goal kick he returned once again to the corner nearest to the Popside. He whipped in a delightful cross which landed smack bang in the middle of the 6 yard box where TT Sponsored player Jay Foulston was waiting to hammer it home. Accurate and with pace on the ball, a tough set piece to defend, and a terrific finish from Jay for the winner.
