TT PREVIEW

Miles talks about the Sports
START TO THE SEASON
A big contrast from when we last played in January last year. The last meeting was Adam Murray’s first game in charge and the progress we’ve made since then is outstanding. After staying up against all odds last season, we have started this season really well. We aren’t scoring many goals but defensively we’ve been really solid which is shown by 3 of our defenders being in the TOTW so far. The great thing about our start to the season is we haven’t reached our best yet!
HIGHLIGHTS
For me it’s Hornchurch away on the second game of the season. Playing with 10 men for 60 minutes away from home against a good side wasn’t good for any of our nerves. But we dug in and ground out a really important first win of the season.
KEY PLAYERS
Moussa Diarra – Mous is a massive centre back who reads the game incredibly well and organises our back-line. He’s also popped up with a few goals from corners since he joined from Barnet last season. David Sesay – Sesay has been my player of the season so far. A wing back who can play on either side, Ses is a danger going forward with multiple assists in the last year and a never say die attitude when it comes to defending. George Alexander – George had a slow start to the season after suffering from a foot injury in pre season. He’s picked up his goalscoring form in the last few games and his talent is clear to see after a prolific pre-season.
THE MANAGER
Adam Murray is no stranger to Torquay after playing there in the 2000s. Adam joined us from Fylde last season after winning the National League North the year before. He’s steady and turned the ship in the right direction along with Stuart Watkiss and his management team.
POSSIBLE LINE-UP
Hard to call as we change it quite regularly and have a deep squad. Wright; Sesay, Quick, Diarra, Bird, Clarke; Klass, Barry, Odusanya; Pavey, Alexander
PRE-MATCH REFRESHMENTS
Definitely the sports bar just outside the turnstiles. A great range of drinks and food as well as the early premier league kick off on TV!
MATCHDAY CHAT
I imagine the attendance will be around 1500 as the visit of Torquay should bring in a good Eastbourne crowd and Torquay will be backed by a decent number of away supporters. No segregation in place as far as I’m aware. It’s best to buy tickets by Friday for £15 rather than the on the day price of £18.
STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES
Farnborough pressed us off the park in August the week after they beat Torquay at Cherrywood Road. Chelmsford and in particular Foyo put us to the sword two weeks ago as they scored 4 past our otherwise solid defence.
PREDICTION
We don’t score loads and we don’t concede many so I’m going for a 1-1 draw.
